There are a number of free Anti-Virus programs that can really benefit your computer and your online security, but who do you choose.
I have already reviewed Avast on a simple Toshiba Laptop running Vista Home Premium, which really did do its job and served a great purpose in the process. I have been also following the progress of AVG, and have to backtrack a little on what I said in the Avast review.
I am not going to say that AVG blows my mind or rips apart Avast, I can’t do that in all honesty, but for a free Anti-Virus package, AVG is a very top drawer product.
AVG is one of the better known Anti-Virus packages, and for a freebie you can’t really go wrong, the customer support although is much better if you are a premium user which is in contrast to the Avast customer support which is much better if you are a free user.
Again I am not pulling apart AVG, it has a massive Virus and malicious software inventory in the data banks, and has a good rapport with the AVG users, who report bugs, glitches and viruses constantly. The only thing I do take issue with on that basis is that sometimes it seems that a completely harmless program upload can be seen as a problem by AVG.
One more serious issue is the problem of malicious AVG clone viruses. You may have seen or experienced this virus over the last couple of years, which opens a Backdoor Trojan on your system, and or installs fake software on your system compromising your system security. Just be very aware that there is this fake AVG virus doing the rounds, it is a known problem for AVG who I know from first hand Techie knowledge that AVG are trying their best to tackle the issues. If you do find an unsolicited AVG popup appear on screen, do not click it. Do not even try to click on the X to close the program. Close your browser via Task Manager.
All in all if you do download a genuine AVG program you will enjoy some fantastic features for a free program, and constant updates. It is important for you to keep your automatic updating facility switched on through AVG as it does quickly become redundant. And if you are a user that likes to get into the swing of being a big part of user experience, then you should take part in the feedback and updating facility, as you can help to make the web a safer place to browse.
It is simple to get hold of your free AVG anti-virus program, simply by doing a quick Google search for Free AVG, and going to the AVG website. Remember to click the free version of the software then simply follow the instructions for installation.
