The 2010 European Grand Prix will run in Valencia, Spain over the Valencia Street Circuit this weekend. Countryman Fernando Alonso is the 7-2 second co-favorite before qualifying takes place. Alonso has had a rough 2010 Formula One season after entering this year as the odds on favorite to win the championship. Ferrari as a team has been the third best Formula One team in the series behind Team Red Bull and McLaren Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton will be seeking to repeat the success of his 2009 Formula One championship season. As Hamilton enters the European Grand Prix, he will be seeking his third consecutive Formula One victory. He will be a 5-2 favorite on a Valencia road circuit that Hamilton was top qualifier on in Formula One’s last visit to the demanding course. In the 2009 race Hamilton took second and is looking forward to the challenging 25 turn marathon course.
This track will be one of the most demanding street circuits these Formula One drivers will face all season. With 11 left handers and 14 right handers, the G Force demands on these drivers will be their most rigorous test. Besides Hamilton, who has performed well in Valencia, Rubens Barrichello, a 300-1 shot to win this race is the defending champion. To be fair, Barrichello’s car is not close to his Brawn Mercedes that he won with last year.
