My oldest toddler has had issues with regularity and constipation off and on since birth. She is a picky eater and it can be a real challenge to get her to consume enough fruits, vegetables, and fiber in her daily diet. I have tried all sorts of natural remedies: apple juice, prune juice, bran, and increasing liquids. While these natural remedies worked in the short term, after a while we were back to square one dealing with the painful symptoms of constipation: abdominal bloating, vomiting, crankiness, painful bowel movements, loss of appetite, and disrupted sleep. My poor child was miserable. This cycle continued until a suggestion by my sister-in-law led me to try Fleet Fiber Gummies. I had never heard of Fleet Fiber Gummies but I was eager to give them a try and see if they could help keep my child regular.
Fleet Fiber Gummies are a children’s laxative that comes in the form of gummies that children chew. They taste great (yes I tasted them) just like gummy candy. They also look and smell exactly like gummy candies. My children eagerly gobbled them down. Fleet Fiber Gummies contain no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, wheat gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. That makes Fleet Fiber Gummies the perfect choice for children with food allergies. They are also sugar free so no pesky added sugar in your child’s diet.
But do they work? Boy, do Fleet Fiber Gummies work! After taking one gummy, my toddler was running to the toilet within the hour. Fleet Fiber Gummies have kept her regular now for three months and going strong. There have been no side effects and no recurrences of constipation. My toddler currently takes one third of the recommended dose, or one Fleet Fiber Gummy per day. That is all she needs. I have also found Fleet Fiber Gummies to be a safe, effective laxative for myself. Fleet Fiber Gummies taste great and are gentler on my stomach than the adult laxative products I have used in the past. I do have to take the full three gummy dose to get relief however. The recommended dose of three gummies is equivalent in fiber to three small brussel sprouts, ½ cup of broccoli, or ¾ cup of carrots. Pull back the Fleet Fiber Gummies label and you will find more information about suggested fiber intake for children up to age 11.
Fleet Fiber Gummies do have a few drawbacks. The first one is the price. I paid $8.49 for 60 gummies. The directions suggest children take one gummy three times a day. That means one bottle will last one child approximately twenty days, not even an entire month. I have two children so that means, if I were to follow the suggested manufacturer’s dose I would need to buy a new bottle of Fleet Fiber Gummies every ten days. At $8.49 per bottle, that means a monthly supply for me would cost $25.47. That’s pretty steep. However, I found that one Fleet Fiber Gummy per day was sufficient to keep my toddler regular. My other toddler does not need extra fiber, so I am able to keep the cost down by only giving one third of the recommended does to only one of my toddlers.
Another drawback is that Fleet Fiber Gummies look, smell, and taste so much like gummy candy that children will eagerly eat the whole jar if they get their hands on them. Parents need to treat Fleet Fiber Gummies as they would any other medication. Keep Fleet Fiber Gummies out of the reach of children. Do not let children administer their own dose of Fleet Fiber Gummies. Do not exceed the three gummy dose. Fleet Fiber Gummies are not for children under 2 years old due to the risk of choking. Basically, if your child can not handle a regular gummy candy they will not be able to take Fleet Fiber Gummies.
Fleet Fiber Gummies are an excellent product for preventing constipation in children. They are a safe, effective, great tasting and allergen free fiber supplement that is gentle to little tummies. If your child suffers from irregularity, give them a try.
