by itchyfish

Anytime of year you will find millions of people looking for online tickets for sporting events, concerts and other attractions. Those shopping for their tickets will be more than likely dealing with online ticket brokers. With almost a 50 percent jump in online ticket sales since 2007, many of these online ticket brokers are a much better choice than the guy on the street corner hawking tickets. However, as with many online businesses there can be some pitfalls. Here are some tips on finding the best ticket broker deals:

You Need to Comparison Shop Online Ticket Brokers
Most big online ticket brokers such as FanSnap.com are just search engines for finding tickets. Many search engine ticket sites will give you ticket brokers, venues, and fan resale sites. This covers quite a bit of ticket broker territory. However, many of the will exclude sites like Ticketmaster, a huge ticket seller as well as some online classifieds like Craigslist. Therefore, if you are really looking for tickets, make sure you check all sites and don’t rely on just one or two online ticket broker search engines. In addition, make sure to check often for ticket availability on these varies sites. Many venues will release tickets, as the event gets closer to opening.

You Need Good Timing When Shopping Online Ticket Brokers
Good timing when buying tickets through an online ticket broker will depend on the buyer’s priorities. If the buyer is looking for the cheapest seats, those are usually available just before the event begins. However, if the buyer is a little more picky about where their seats are, or if the buyer needs to buy a block of seats, then the earlier the better to purchase with the online ticket broker. Most ticket brokers will tell you that the one time to avoid buying tickets to your event is right after it has sold out as prices tend to spike.

When to Bypass Online Ticket Brokers
If you have the time and the patience, many times the best prices are found by bypassing the online ticket brokers altogether. Many musical groups have their own fan clubs that give them first crack at pre-sale tickets. Get on the mailing list and sign up for a particular venue to get early notice of events coming up. Finally, there is the old tried and true method of going to the box-office yourself and buying your tickets. You will be a little more inconvenienced, however; you will bypass that online ticket broker convenience charge.
