The documentary 10 Mountains 10 Years is a documentary that was produced in order to make people become more aware of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Several of the people involved in this film have family members who are suffering with one or the other of these two diseases. The purpose of this documentary is also to make doctors become more aware of how these diseases affect so many lives. Although doctors and scientists have been doing a great deal of research, it is hoped that they will continue to work in order to find a cure or a prevention for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
For those of you who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s, you know how painful it can be to watch someone you love become a detached human being. Since my sister suffered from this disease, she no longer existed as the person that I had known all my life. It was a tragedy for me and my family.
When I first heard about the production of this documentary, I wanted to learn more about it. I knew one of the editors, James Brevard, so I made it a point to find out more about it.
The name of this documentary, 10 Mountains 10 Years, gets its name because several people who are involved in this film decided that in order to attract attention to this worthy film, they formed a group of mountain climbers. They decided that they were going to hike 10 mountains in10 years. Most of them are amateur hikers and started out with their first climb on Mt. Kilminjaro in Africa.
