Eve Online: Guristas Forlorn Hideaway – Cosmic Anomaly

by itchyfish

This Eve Online guide will cover the Cosmic Anomaly encounter known as Guristas Forlorn Hideaway. This Cosmic Anomaly like all others can be found through using your ships onboard scanner or probes if the system you are in happens to possess one. They are typically found within 5 au of a planet. The Guristas Forlorn Hideaway encounter occurs in an area of space containing an asteroid base in a massive dust cloud, with other massive structural debris floating about. Warping to 0 puts the player 40km away from the station and guarding frigates that are spawned initially. There are also a slew of mineable asteroids scattered about in the Guristas Forlorn Hideaway Cosmic Anomaly, which can be harvested by Eve Online miners after the enemies are cleared out. I located this encounter in The Forge region, in a .9 security Caldari State system.

Spawns of Guristas Forlorn Hideaway Cosmic Anomaly:
Initial: x4 Pithi Saboteur, x1 Pithi Despoiler (5 frigates)
Wave 1: x2 Pithi Saboteur, x2 Pithi Despoiler, x1 Pithum Ascriber (4 frigates, 1 cruiser)
Wave 2: x1 Pithum Silencer, x1 Pithior Anarchist, x1 Pithior Nihilist, x2 Pithum Ascriber (2 Destroyers, 3 Cruisers)
Wave 3: x5 Pithum Ascriber (5 Cruiser)

When performing this Eve Online Cosmic Anomaly it should be important to note that most of these ships have trouble hitting a destroyer sized vessel at greater than 20km. I was able to complete this encounter in my Cormorant keeping the enemies at range. High DPS is also important, since the cruisers can really take a beating. During the 2nd wave, I also made sure to focus on the enemy destroyers first, since they fell faster, and was more capable of landing hard blows on my vessel. Upon initial arrival at the Cosmic Anomaly Guristas Forlorn Hideaway, I was not aggro’d by the enemies until I fired upon them at 25km. Killing the cruisers in the reinforcement wave will trigger the next wave, so make sure the smaller ships go first.

I encountered no Dread Guristas spawns during this mission, and there was no escalation message presented to me. These things do not happen 100% of the time in trigger-able encounters, but during my research in other player’s runs through Guristas Forlorn Hideaway no one else has had these events happening, making it highly unlikely that this Cosmic Anomaly can lead to one. Wiping out all the enemies encountered in the Cosmic Anomaly, Guristas Forlorn Hideaway netted me with 461,813 Isk in bounty.
