This guide will cover the purpose and benefits of the learning skills from the MMORPG Eve Online, and why it’s important to train these first on any Eve Online character. It’s important to know there are a total of 11 learning skills, 6 of them are 1x, and 5 of them are 3x skills. All of these skills affect your characters attributes somehow, which in turn affect the time it takes to train all skills in Eve Online.
First, some Information on your characters attributes. In Eve Online, each character has 5 different attributes, memory, intelligence, perception, willpower and charisma, and as of now, all start out with the same points into each of these attributes. Each skill’s training time is affected by 2 different attributes; one will be the primary attribute, and another secondary. Each point put into the primary attribute will cut down on the time needed to train a given skill in Eve Online about two times as much as the secondary attribute will reduce the time.
The learning skills all raise your attributes by 1 point with each level, with the exception of the 1x Learning skill. Learning raises all of your attributes by 2% for each level trained, making it the most beneficial of the learning skills, as it has the ability to give more than 5 attribute points at level 5. At level 5 Learning gives a full 10% boost, so a character with 20 attribute points will get a bonus of an additional 2 for the one attribute for having Learning at level 5. The advanced learning skills run about 4.5 million each, while the basic learning skills run about 90,000 Isk each.
The other 10 learning skills are as follows with their corresponding attribute;
Perception – 1x Spatial Awareness, 3x Clarity
Willpower – 1x Iron Will, 3x Focus
Charisma – 1x Empathy, 3x Presence
Memory – 1x Instant Recall, 3x Eidetic Memory
Intelligence – 1x Analytical Mind, 3x Logic
It has been sudgested that the fastest way to train the learning skills in Eve Online is in the following order: Instant Recall – Level 1, Analytical Mind – Level 1, Learning – Level 1, Instant Recall – Level 2, Analytical Mind – Level 2, Learning – Level 2, Instant Recall – Level 3, Analytical Mind – Level 3, Learning – Level 3
Instant Recall – Level 4, Analytical Mind – Level 4, Learning – Level 4, Instant Recall – Level 5, Eidetic Memory – Level 1, Eidetic Memory – Level 2, Eidetic Memory – Level 3, Eidetic Memory – Level 4, Analytical Mind – Level 5, Logic – Level 1, Logic – Level 2, Logic – Level 3, Logic – Level 4, Learning – Level 5.
Most of the advanced learning skills may not be worth the significant amount of time spent to train all to level 5, as their benefit would not pay off unless someone was still playing Eve Online several years into the future, however if one wanted to, the most worthwhile advanced skills to train to level 5 would be Eidetic Memory or Logic.
Implants are another great way to boost your attributes, as they can be purchased or rewarded through missions. There are a total of 5 base implant groups to affect attributes, one for each. The most worthwhile to purchase are in my opinion the basic or +3 implants, as a full set runs about 60 million, and gives an excellent skill training boost. I would advise caution to the player who wishes to use the +4 or +5 implants as their incredibly high cost, makes getting podded all that much more costly to the Eve Online capsuleer.
