First off, tell me a little bit about you.
My name is Jennifer and I’m the owner of Jensjewels4u on Etsy where you can find handcrafted original one of a kind designs by me. I’m a mother of four boys, a wife, and a Dept.Manager for an arts and crafts store.
How and when did you start making jewelry at JensJewels4u and your other items?
I’ve always been a crafty person, growing up my mother used to do all sorts of crafts and make interesting things so I guess I picked up that trait from her.
My jewelry making really got into full swing about 4 years ago, working in an arts and crafts store full time really helps with ideas and beads!
I’ve always loved taking pictures and I’ve noticed that as I became older my photography skills improved so I wanted to share with the world the beauty I see in my lens
When and how did you originally find Etsy?
A co-worker/friend introduced me to the Etsy world about a year ago and I’m glad she did,
so Jensjewels4u was created and I’ve been hooked ever since.
What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?
I love the variety of items for sale on Etsy, there are plenty of jewelry stores on Etsy but we’re all a little different.
The price to upload items is a plus, where else can you go and have your items out in the world for three months for only twenty cents?
What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?
I get inspired by all sorts of things, like example one of my creations in my shop Jenjewels4u is Tie me a knot
a necklace inspired by the beach, which is made of rope, a shell that I found at the beach, and copper pieces.
A lot of times I don’t have any ideas so I just pull out all my beading supplies and look for something to jump out at me and I create around that item.
With my photography I really don’t need much to be inspired I just need to be outdoors and have my digital camera and I’ll just snap away.
What is your favorite piece you’ve created and why?
My favorite piece of jewelry that I’ve created is actually one of my own pieces, a copper charm bracelet which was also inspired by the beach. It’s made with all copper pieces a shell, seahorses, star fish charms, and a sand dollar.
My favorite accessory that I have for sale in my shop would have to be my ribbon key chains, I’ve sold around twenty of these in the past two months between work and Etsy, people just love them and I myself use one also. You never miss place your keys when you have one of my ribbon key chains attached to them.
My favorite piece of jewelry in Jensjewels4u would have to be all of them. I really can’t say I have just one favorite piece. I love all of my photography, but I’d have to say that my favorite is my water lilly photo
I just love the look of this flower with its soft pinkish color.
What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?
Well I hope to accomplish a lot of sales with my shop Jensjewels4u of course, but I would really like to see some of my creations be worn around the country, maybe even the world someday.
I would love to see some of my photography in a magazine one day
Do you have any new creations in the works? If so, what can shoppers expect to see from you soon?
I always have creations in progress just ask my hubby he knows all to well what it’s like being married to a jewelry maker. I’m hoping to add some more of my original designs by the end of August so people can start buying their Christmas presents early. There will be more holiday related items, such as Halloween and Christmas ribbon key chains. Also more wrapped stones which I’m now currently learning to do better and gift sets for that special someone.
Where can readers find out about more information regarding your jewelry and other creations and possible special offers (including additional websites, blogs, facebook, etc)?
Well I do have a Facebook page for Jensjewels4u but it’s still under construction, people can follow me on Twitter
I tweet some of my items everyday and I’m always offering specials to my Twitter followers so please follow along, you never know what kind of special item or deal you might find
