Over the past couple weeks I have had a hard time finding an area rug for our laundry room. The first rug I purchased for $40 from Fred Meyer, and it didn’t do well at all as far as holding up to the dirt my daycare kids bring in after school. The next rug, from Kohl’s, I fell in love with – but after I got it home I read that it was not machine washable, so back to the store it went.
I finally settled on a throw rug from Estate Plus, also sold at Kohl’s, which is the perfect size for an entry way. It measures 30″ by 46″, and has multiple earth tone colors throughout the design. Our vinyl floor is tan, so the warm browns, tans, green and turquoise compliment it perfectly.
The Estate Plus Windsor Rug has stripes, but they are blended into each other, so the rug doesn’t have the stark look of the typical striped rug. The color of my rug is “Malt Tan” with a 1/2″ dark brown stitched border around the perimeter of the rug.
The Estate Plus Windsor Rug is backed with a durable rubber, which prevents the rug from slipping and sliding on my floor. The care directions say to shake or vacuum to clean the loose dirt from the rug (and save my washing machine), then to wash it in cold water using mild detergent. No bleach should be used on this rug, and it can be dried on a low heat. The tag says to shake to restore fluff.
Because the Estate Plus Windsor Rug is made from 100% nylon, it is a good choice for an entry way that gets a lot of daily traffic. Nylon rugs hold up extremely well because is it one of the most durable fibers available today. Nylon rugs are supposed to wear well and be very resilient to staining.
My husband wanted me to choose an area rug that would add some color to our laundry room and entry way, and this Estate Plus Windsor Rug does exactly that. I have found that the fiber on these rugs hold up well, but it has been my experience that what breaks down first is the rubber backing. Because of this, I sweep the rug daily with my broom, and vacuum it weekly with my vacuum, then shake the rug outside. Although the information tag says to “restore fluff” by shaking it after removing from a dryer, the pile on this rug is pretty short, so I have not really seen much improvement after a good shaking.
The Estate Plus Windsor Rug retailed for almost $60.00, but was on sale for 60% off at Kohls, making it quite affordable. I hope to get a few good years of use out of this rug, and it is a nice addition to my laundry room.
