For several months now, I have been purchasing and eating several different varieties of Edy’s Maxx Ice Cream. I have been acquiring these one pint containers of delicious ice cream at my local CVS Pharmacy, where they are usually priced lower than similarly – sized containers of more well – known brands of ice cream. Last week, for the first time, I tried Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream and I’m very glad that I did so.
This variety of Edy’s Maxx Ice Cream is without a doubt the best – tasting one I have tried yet. It had been a long time since I last ate coffee ice cream and this variety is the most flavorful version I have ever eaten. Before I purchased Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream, I was wondering if the flavor would be too strong and / or bitter. Not this ice cream.
The flavor of the coffee ice cream in this product is mellow and fairly subtle. It is also interspersed with chocolate cookie pieces, Espresso Chocolate flakes and chocolate fudge. I am so impressed with this delightful ice cream that I have decided to write a product review of it. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of Edy’s Maxx Java Mash Up Ice Cream.
The net weight of the standard – sized container of Edy’s Maxx Java Mash Up Ice Cream is one pint (16 ounces). Comparatively, many other brands of ice cream have replaced their one pint containers with those that contain only 14 ounces, although the containers are designed to look like they hold one pint. According to the package label, this container holds four 1/2 cup servings of ice cream. That serving size seems small to me, however. Each time that I have eaten this incredible ice cream, I have eaten at least two servings, because it tastes so good.
So far, I have only seen Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream at CVS Pharmacy. While the product is undoubtedly sold at other retailers, I always see it at CVS. Interestingly, a few weeks ago, the regular retail price of this ice cream at my local CVS Pharmacy was $3.99 per container. After it was on sale for one week at $1.99, the regular retail price dropped to $2.99 per container.
Although compared to the price of most half gallons of ice cream at supermarkets, this price is high, I still think that this price is competitive, in today’s economy. Also, similarly – sized containers of other brands of ice cream usually retail for much higher prices than the price of this ice cream.
Texture / Consistency
The texture, or consistency of Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream is pleasant and enjoyable. The coffee ice cream is very smooth and creamy and it is accented well with an abundance of chocolate cookie pieces, Espresso Chocolate flakes and fudge. The cool, rich creaminess of Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream consistently offers a very pleasing mouth – feel that makes it very difficult to stop eating this ice cream once you have started.

Taste / Flavor
I have reviewed several varieties of Edy’s Maxx Ice Cream and I can un – equivocally state that their Java Mashup Ice Cream is by far the tastiest variety I have tried yet. As a matter of fact, I am eating some of this ice cream as I write this article. It had been so long since I last ate coffee ice cream, I wasn’t even sure if I liked the flavor or not. After trying one taste of .Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream, there was no doubt in my mind when I thought to myself “This is the best – tasting coffee ice cream I’ve ever eaten”. I also think that the Java Mashup is the best – tasting variety of Edy’s Maxx Ice Cream.
The coffee ice cream in this product is not too sweet and it features a very pleasant flavor. Virtually every bite of this delicious ice cream also features either tasty fudge, chocolate cookie pieces, Espresso Chocolate flakes, or a combination thereof. The combination of the three chocolates and the delectable coffee ice cream is very flavorful and satisfying.
Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream is packaged in a standard – type cardboard ice cream container. The background color of the label is a nice shade of purple and the front of the container shows a funky illustration of the ice cream ingredients. The container is easy to open and re – close and it is designed to be eaten out of. The rear label of the container also lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
I can’t say enough good things about Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream. This ice cream is so good, that after finishing the first pint container that I bought (in two days), I bought another container the next night at CVS Pharmacy. Although the base of this product is coffee ice cream, there is so much chocolate in it, that you taste both flavors in virtually every spoonful. This ice cream is priced lower than most other one pint containers of ice cream, but is every bit as good as the more well – known brands. Edy’s Maxx Java Mashup Ice Cream is highly recommended by this food writer.
