I am not a huge potato, corn or tortilla chip eater. However, every once in a while I do get a craving for something salty and chips often fit the bill.
Recently, I wanted some cheese queso dip with tortilla chips. My first attempt to purchase the chip of my dreams fell flat when the plain, scoopable chips proved stale.
On my second attempt, I eyed a new Dorito flavor – – Spicy Sweet Chili Flavored Tortilla Chips. They sounded, and looked delicious if you can believe the picture on the bag. I’m glad that I did because these chips are really something special.
Just like they promise, the chips have a sweet chili taste with just enough spice to push them over the top from ordinary to extraordinary. They quickly became my very favorite chips of all time.
Let’s take a look at the nutritional facts. A serving size of Doritos is approximately one ounce. With 12 ounces in each bag, that means these chips will last for a while. That is, of course, unless you are willing to share.
There are 140 calories per serving; 60 of which unfortunately come from fat. However, none of the fat calories are attributed to trans fat so that is something to the positive side.
Each serving contains 18 grams of carbohydrates. That means they may not be appropriate for those watching their carb intake.
There are a total of 7 grams of fat per bag. One gram of that is attributed to saturated fat.
The really bad news is the sodium factor. These Doritos carry a whopping 270 milligrams of sodium. That effectively puts them out of the reach of most people who are watching salt intake.
On the positive side, these chips only contain 1 gram of fat and they boast 1 gram of fiber and 2 grams of protein. On another positive note, they contain 10% of the daily-recommended amount of vitamin A, 2% of the needed calcium and 2% of the recommended amount of iron.

Doritos can be found wherever potato, corn and tortilla chips are sold.
Here is my summary review:
Taste: 5 stars. These tortilla chips are sheer perfection; sweet and spicy, crisp and tasty. You couldn’t ask for more. They are good alone or served with your favorite dip.
Freshness: 5 stars. Doritos carries a fresh guarantee to the date printed on the front of the bag. The company will refund your money if the chips are not tasty, fresh and crisp.
Variety: 5 stars. If you don’t care for Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili, there are several other flavor options to choose from. These include, but are not limited to, plain, cheese, nacho cheese, and ranch.
Reputation: 5 stars. Doritos is America’s favorite tortilla chip brand for a reason. They are always fresh and yummy.
Nutrition: 3 stars. The high sodium and carbohydrate content is a downer, as is many of the chemicals and preservatives included in the ingredient list. However, to be fair, most chips on the market contain the same or even more.
Packaging: 5 stars. Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili Flavored Tortilla Chips come in an eggplant purple bag accented in white, yellow and orange. The chips are pictured on the bag exactly as they look in real life. The packaging is nearly as mouthwatering as the chips are themselves. Best of all, they are easy to find on the store shelf.
Ease of storage: 4 stars. Let’s face it. Chips in any form are not easy to store. However, using a chip clip on the closed bags will extend the life of the chips at least to their guaranteed freshness date.
Availability: 5 stars. Doritos are sold wherever potato, corn and tortilla chips are found. That includes most grocery marts and several discount department stores and drug stores.
Price: 4 stars. If you pay full price — $3.99 – you might consider that a bit expensive. However, Doritos are almost always on sale somewhere. I bought my bag for a mere $1.99.
Product purchase probability: 5 stars. I love these chips. I’ll definitely be back for more.
Final rating: 4.6 stars. These chips are delicious.
