Pigeon Forge is just about an hour outside of Knoxville. It’s a popular vacation spot for many in East Tennessee as well as other parts of the southeast. Perhaps the most popular attraction is Dollywood.
Dollywood is essentially two separate parks. There is the Dollywood Splash Country and the main Dollywood theme park that many visitors know and love.
One day general admission tickets are $55.90 for adults age 12-59, $44.70 for kids age 4-11 and $52.50 for senior citizens age 60 and up. Families can get a summer bargain by purchasing Dollywood passes at Food City. Adult passes are $79 each. If you visit Dollywood twice in the summer you will save more than $32!
These discounted tickets are available at any Food City through April 30. There are many locations in the Knoxville area. You can also purchase through the Dollywood website at www.dollywood.com.
The parking charge is $8.00 for regular sized vehicles. An RV or extra-long vehicle costs $11.00 to park. There is no parking charge for Gold Pass season passes. These cost an additional $33.00 and there are extra benefits for purchasing this card. Many families will opt to purchase one Gold Pass instead of getting one for each family member. Discounts and free parking apply only to the specific passholder that is named on the Gold Pass.
Dollywood is a family oriented theme park in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Pets are not allowed inside the park. The kennel, Doggywood is available for our four footed friends. Service animals are welcomed at all times.
Some people have the mistaken impression that Dollywood consists mostly of fast paced thrill rides. There are many rides in the park but what makes Dollywood truly stand out is the number of shows that are offered. All shows are family friendly. Only a few special concerts have an additional fee. Admission to the shows are included in your park admission ticket.
Dollywood also has a waterpark. Splash Country is open during the summer months. It can be a great way to cool off in the summer heat. Splash country tickets are sold separately. A special season pass can be added for an additional fee. That information is also available on the Dollywood website.
Finding Dollywood is easy. Take Tennessee I-40 Exit #407. Follow the signs to Pigeon Forge. Follow the signs to the theme park entrance. More directions are available online.
If you do buy a one day general admission ticket and it rains don’t worry. If it rains and you have to leave early Dollywood will issue a rain check. Pick up your rain check where season passes are sold and visit the park again. (This does not apply to season ticketholders who already have admission for a full season.)
