Diane Gilman Jeggings Are Fashionable as Well as Comfortable

by itchyfish

Finding a pair of good fitting jeans is often difficult after you reach the age of 45-plus. No matter if you are trim and fit or a bit chubby in the wrong places, most jeans simply are not cut for a mature figure.

The exception to the rule comes from Diane Gilman. She understands the mature body because she has one of her own.

Once the darling designer for rock stars and celebrities because of her unique hand painting and embellishment, Diane gave up the lime light of Hollywood and New York to design for the everyday woman. I, for one, am glad that she did. Otherwise I would not be able to find a pair of jeans to fit my ample curves.

Today, Diane is focused on marrying fashion with comfort, which she does with flare in her DG2 line of denim separates. She uses spandex and relaxed fits to make sure there is something to fit almost any woman’s figure.

However, simplicity isn’t her only style. She can do classic cuts and tailored fits with the best of them. But she also loves to kick things up a notch with hand appliques, hand painting, embellishments and more. She even employs fun prints like the ever-popular leopard and exotic beading that cannot be found anywhere else.

Always in tune with the latest styles on the fashion runway, Diane recently unveiled her denim jeggings. A cross between jeans and the highly popular leggings, jeggings are perfect for any size, shape or style.

With jeggings, you get the comfort of leggings in the look of skinny jeans. It’s the best of both worlds put together in a variety of denim colors including chambray, indigo, black, red, and espresso to name just a few.

Stretch denim allows you to bend and move with ease and yet the unique elastic waist doesn’t pucker or fold, adding bulk around the middle. Instead, it sucks you in like the world’s most comfortable girdle or shaper.

Jeggings are semi-fitted to hug the body but in the most flattering way possible. They look great with heels or with boots over the top. The tapered leg ensures that there is no extra bulk to prevent a beautiful boot look.

The inseam for petites is 29″. It’s 30″ for regular and 31″ for tall. Sizes range from XS (size 2) to 3X (size 26/28). However, these jeans are cut generously so there is never a need to size up.

Made from 2% spandex, 32% cotton and 56% ramie, jeggings are machine washable. They can be fluff dried in a dryer or hung up to air dry.

I love these jeans. They are fashionable, cute, beautifully made and most of all ‘” comfortable. They may well become my favorite pair of Diane’s jeans and that is saying a lot because I have at least a dozen different cuts and colors.

Jeggings are particularly cute when pair with a tunic top or one of today’s hot new scarf tops. I like wearing them with my white button down cotton tunic. My grandkids say I’m stylin’.

Most of Diane’s jeans retail for around $49.99, although she is doing more and more at $39.99 and below. My recent jeggings purchase was a mere $24.99. You can’t really beat that with a stick. And I got a free key chain to boot.

The truth is I would never wear anything but DG2 jeans. They always fit; they’re comfortable and Diane makes certain they are in tune with the times.

DG2 jeans are sold in Diane’s exclusive New York boutique and on Home Shopping Network. They can also be found on some auction sites like Ebay.

Here is my summary review:

Fit: 5 stars. Once you find your size in Diane Gilman and HSN’s size chart, it is the size you will always order. That way, the fit is perfect each and every time.

Fashion: 5 stars. Jeggings are the hottest trend in jeans for Fall 2010. Every fashion conscious woman will have at least one pair. Even those who don’t really care about fashion will love them for their comfort.

Colors: 5 stars. Few designers go out of their way to provide a wide range of colors in their jeans. Diane goes all out to present the colors that are hot for the season as well as classic denims. Her new espresso brown denim is particularly appealing and absolutely gorgeous!

Price: 5 stars. Jeans can be expensive. I see people paying more than $100 for a pair of good fitting jeans. Why do that when you can them for as little as $24.99?

Quality: 5 stars. Diane’s jeans last forever. I have a couple of pair that I’ve had for more than 10 years and they still look good as new. (Yes, I do wear them regularly).

Availability: 5 stars. Diane has her own exclusive New York boutique but she sells her widest variety of jeans on HSN.

Reputation: 5 stars. When it comes to jeans for the mature woman, Diane Gilman rules. No other designer pays the kind of attention that she does to cut and fit. Baby Boomers love her for a good reason. She gets what we want and need and she delivers.

Purchase probability: 5 stars. My husband even knows that when Diane is on, chances are good I will be buying a new pair of jeans. He’s okay with that because he loves how I look in them and how they make me feel. He says I’m one hot grandma. Who am I to argue with a genius?

Final rating: 5 stars. I love all of Diane’s jeans, including her cute new jeggings.

RATING SCALE:

5 stars – outstanding
4 stars – good
3 stars – average
2 stars – below average
1 star – poor
