A fun, safe and affordable deep sea fishing trip can be taken aboard one of the 40 passenger boats operated by the Critter Fleet in Ponce Inlet, Florida. The Critter Fleet deep sea fishing trips are manned by knowledgeable and professional mates and a captain who knows the waters off the Florida coastline well and knows where the fishing is best.
The Critter Fleet fishing boats are clean and well maintained. Shaded seating is available for all fishers and for the passengers who are just along for the ride. Food and beverages are available to purchase on board or passengers may bring a small cooler along for the deep sea fishing trip.
The crew cuts up the squid used for bait but each fisher must bait their own hook. Crew members remove the caught fish from the hook and line, then place the fish on a numbered (each fisher is given a number) stringer and into the cooler for the duration of the trip. One member of our fishing group caught a small shark during the deep sea fishing trip and the crew mate put on quite a display when he removed the shark from the line, grabbed the shark by the tail and beat it’s head on the bottom of the boat.
The crew are very informative during the fishing trip, offering tips and tricks for catching fish so most everyone on board one of the deep sea fishing excursions returns to shore with at least one fish to brag about.
A half day deep sea fishing trip is $50 for adults, $40 for children (under 6 years of age are free) and seniors get a $5 discount. A full day of deep sea fishing costs $75 for adult and $50 for children. Fishing rods, reels, tackle and bait are included in the price.
It’s possible to win back all of the money spent for the deep sea fishing trip. On each trip the crew mate makes a ‘pot’ in which everyone who desires can get in on for $5 a piece. Whoever’s fish catch of the day weighs the most wins the ‘pot’. Our group member who caught the shark would have won the pot during our trip on board the Critter Fleet, but unfortunately sharks are excluded from being weighed and entered.
When the Critter Fleet boat arrives back at the dock, the fish on the numbered stringers are removed from the cooler and given to their rightful owners. A fish cleaning service is available on the dock for .50 cents per pound. Taxidermist service is also available for special fish catches that passengers want to preserve.
The Critter Fleet in Ponce Inlet, Florida offers group deep sea fishing trips daily and private fishing trips as well. The fishing boats arrive back at the dock at the same time and draw a crowd of onlookers to watch the fish being unloaded.
