If you are a crafty person, you have probably wished for better lighting when you are working on your craft projects. I purchased a desk lamp with the daylight bulbs, and loved it, but when it stopped working, it was time to replace, but what with? If you do a lot of crafts, you need to check out the Daylight Floorstanding Craft Lamp.
Available through Joann’s Fabrics and Crafts stores, this light is the answer to all of my crafting needs! When it comes to needing a good light, I need one for many occasions. I make and sell jewelry, I knit scarves and other items that I sell in local boutiques (and at Bazaars and Craft Fairs), and I do a lot of sewing and needlework. At the age of 54, my eyes are definitely not as good as they used to be, even with my no-line bifocal eyeglasses.
The Daylight Floorstanding Craft Lamp isn’t the most attractive looking lamp, and it would not be one that I would want in my living room, but it is perfect for a craft room and sewing room, and I am lucky enough to have such a room! This lamp looks like the typical bar style desk light, but it is the height of a floor lamp. It is colored white, so it will go with any color scheme in your home, and it not only has an 18 watt Daylight tube. These Daylight bulbs show products in their “real” color, instead of distorting the colors like a fluorescent light bulb can. Having such a light is very important when it comes to making my jewelry because all of my stones need to match or coordinate, and I have made a few blunders before I had such a light.
Not only does the Daylight Floorstanding Craft Lamp have a powerful, bright bulb, but it also has a lower height magnifying lens that is attached to a separate arm, and it can be moved into the proper position. The lens on the magnifying glass does not have a rim around it, so there is no interference or distortion when looking through the glass at your projects. It has a magnification of 1.75X.
Making this lamp even more versatile is the fact that the weighted base rests on wheels, so you can easily move it around from room to room if you need to do so. This lamp is so versatile that it can be used when you are sitting down at your sewing table, or in your favorite chair, but it can also be used while you are standing up if the occasion arose.
The lamp retails for $179.99, which is a bit pricey, but if you make part of your living making and selling your wares, then you know how important a good quality light is for your business. I like to see items before buying them, but the JoAnn website has quite a few testimonials from owners, and most of them are very pleased with their Daylight Floorstanding Craft Lamp. It was enough to convince me that this was a worthwhile investment.
I have never seen any other lamps quite like this one, combining the usefulness of the light with the helpfulness of the magnifying glass. This will really come in handy when I am working on a counted cross-stitch project with a high aida count, (meaning the squares and holes are tiny and hard to see!). Much easier than wearing a magnifying glass around the neck, in my opinion. There are many uses for this lamp, and I think it’s about time somebody came up with such a wonderful idea of combining a lamp and a magnifying glass in one lamp, and sticking it on wheels so it can be easily positioned exactly where it is needed. Fantastic!!
