And then there were six. Last week’s Dancing with the Stars elimination got rid of jerky Jake, so we’re down to 4 ladies and 2 men. Tonight the Dancing with the Stars drama continued as the final six stars danced in two rounds. In round one, the couples danced their individual dances. In round two the six couples were divided into two teams for a Cha-Cha team dance showdown. How did your favorites fare? Here is a brief rundown of the Dancing with the Stars action.
First up tonight was Erin & Maks dancing the quickstep. Maks evidently zoned out during last week’s judges comments. Totally ignoring Len’s suggestion that he keep his clothes on, Maks decided that this week both he and Erin would strip. Luckily for us, they had another set of clothes on underneath. Len oddly didn’t mind their change of clothes and declared tonight Erin’s best dance so far. Bruno thought the moves were beautiful but thought Erin’s upper body was too stiff. Carrie Ann thought it was gorgeous. Score: 27/30
This week Chad embraced his inner dancer and apparently a very exclusive jeweler. Chad and Cheryl danced the Viennese waltz. Cheryl brought in Tony Dovolani to help Chad with his technique problems. Chad moved very smoothly around the floor but he didn’t add all that much to the dance. Once again Cheryl did most of the work. Bruno called Chad a gentle giant and thought he did a great job. He did comment that Chad has some small improvements to make for next week. Carrie Ann thought he was graceful. Len liked the dance and felt that this was the week that Chad became a contender. On a more personal note, and with Chad and Cheryl there’s ALWAYS a more personal note, it was Cheryl’s birthday and Chad gave her a diamond necklace. Brooke made sure to point it out and ask the question on everyone’s mind: are they just a Dancing with the Stars couple or a real life couple? They changed the subject. Maybe I’ll dust off my Magic 8 Ball and ask. Score: 25/30
Nicole and Derek danced the slow waltz to the song “You Light Up My Life”. Nicole looked classy and not sleazy, a nice change of pace from her previous Dancing with the Stars performances. After they finished dancing, Nicole and Derek received lei’s from Nicole’s aunt who has down syndrome. Carrie Ann declared Nicole by far the best dancer that has ever appeared on the show. Len found one or two little technical things to improve on but otherwise though the dance was good. He then made an uncomfortable comment to Nicole about coming to his trailer to further discuss how she could improve for next week. Ewww! Bruno declared Nicole dancing royalty. Score: 27/30
Pamela looked beautiful this week. She danced the slow waltz. She had a problem holding her frame and sort of looked like a wet noodle. But a beautiful noodle. Len thought the dance was quiet and understated and lamented the fact that Pam doesn’t get to show off her assets much. He advised her to work on firming up her upper body adding “it’s a little too loose”. I think Len took his naughty pills this week. The boob double entendre was a bit much. Maybe he just decided to get over himself and have some fun. After all, this is Dancing with the Stars not the Joffrey Ballet. Bruno declared the dance demure and pure, the essence of romance. Carrie Ann saw a huge improvement in Pam’s legs. Score: 24/30
Niecy and Louis danced the quickstep tonight, sans the cookies. Oddly though, the powers that be managed to get in the Nicey-food gag in the dancing preview montage. Niecy looked light on her feet and seemed to be having a great time. Bruno thought Niecy never looked more gorgeous and that her footwork was better than ever. Carrie Ann declared it Niecy’s best dance of the Dancing with the Stars competition and liked how she was light on her feet and kept moving throughout the dance. Len agreed with Carrie Ann. The best part of the night: a giddy Niecy declaring “I can dance!” Score: 25/30
The question of the night was could Evan make it back to the top of the Dancing with the Stars leader board after his dramatic fall last week. The answer was a resounding YES! Gone was the balletic “skating routine” of previous weeks. This week Evan actually danced! Evan and Anna did a James Bond-esque tango that brought the audience to their feet. Carrie Ann declared that Evan had the “eye of the tiger” and was sexy and refined. Then she growled. Len dusted off his “10” paddle after admitting that he had his doubts about whether Evan would be “good on wood”. Bruno thought he danced like a true alpha male during his strong, powerful, determined, sexy performance. He declared Evan “everything a girl could want”. Score: 30/30
Round 2: Team Dance Cha-Cha Challenge
Team Gaga: Pamela, Nicole, Chad
Team Gaga danced to Lady Gaga. The group sections and solos were both in synch. I expected more hip movement from Pam. I guess it’s a good thing all she had to do on Baywatch was run. Chad and Nicole picked it up and did a great job. Len congratulated them on a job well done. Bruno thought the end was great. Carrie Ann commented on the sexual energy of the team. Score: 27/30
Team Madonna: Niecy, Evan, Erin
Madonna tributes have been everywhere lately. This was certainly no Glee performance. From the outfits to the song it just didn’t work for me. It all seemed so awkward and cheesy, even for Dancing with the Stars. Evan and Anna were out of sync from the rest of the group at the beginning, but they got it together eventually. At the end, the girls ripped off their Madonna dresses to reveal black corsets. What is it with the stripping? Bruno thought their performance was good and liked how Niecy was really shaking it. Carrie Ann liked that they had a good time dancing but thought they could have ripped off their clothes sooner. Len thought they set a high standard. The mandatory Niecy food comment came from Erin tonight as she spoke backstage to Brooke following the performance. Score: 24/30
