Pamela Anderson was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars last week, after a surprising results show. Many, including this writer, thought Niecy Nash should have been the one sent home.
Now down to just 5 couples, the competition really heats up this week as the remaining celebrities take on two new dances. This week’s theme is Dancing Through the Decades, and each couple will perform one of their routines dance with a slant towards a particular decade.
Here are the final 5 dancers and the dances they will perform:
Dancing with the Stars Final Five – Erin and Maks
Erin and Maks will dance an ’80s Rumba and an Argentine Tango. Both very sexy dances, let’s hope the unfortunate headlines this week don’t make Erin too conservative. She has the potential to make it to the final three if she can stay focused – and Maks can keep his clothes on.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s ridiculous comments about Erin’s costumes last week prompted a lengthy online rebuttal by Maks, calling her remarks “unnecessary and insensitive.” Click here for more.
Dancing with the Stars Final Five – Evan and Anna
Evan and Anna will dance a Futuristic Cha Cha and a Waltz. Evan was the only member of Team Madonna last week who had not performed a Cha Cha prior to the Challenge. Having the feel for the dance fresh in his mind (and feet!) should help Evan immensely this week.
Evan should sail through the Waltz. He consistently receives outstanding reviews for his lyricism and grace. As long as he works on his feet, we may even see another perfect score.
Dancing with the Stars Final Five – Chad and Cheryl
This week Chad and Cheryl perform a Tango and a 60s Jive. Two weeks ago, Chad did an Argentine tango that the judges raved about, and then gave him three 8s. Maybe he can build on that for the tango and fare better with the judges.
I think the jive is going to give Chad some trouble. It is a very technical dance, with tons of jumping around and flicks & kicks…not easy for a tall man.
Dancing with the Stars Final Five – Niecy and Louis
Niecy and Louis will dance a Viennese Waltz and a 90s Paso Doble. Niecy does very well with the ballroom dances. She is very light on her feet and keeps up with Louis quite well.
For the Paso Doble, I think we’re all expecting a comedy routine, although the dance is supposed to be very intense and angry. I’m sure it will be entertaining, but honestly, this has to be Niecy’s swan song.
Dancing with the Stars Final Five – Nicole and Derek
Nicole and Derek will perform a Foxtrot and a 50s Paso Doble. These two can do anything. Nicole has no trouble keeping up with Derek, so I’m sure she’ll hold her own with the Foxtrot.
The Paso Doble is one of my favorite dances to watch. I expect nothing short of perfection from Nicole and Derek. I am picturing something along the lines of Mel B’s Paso with Maks in Season 5.
Look for lots of nerves on Dancing with the Stars this week, as only two week remain before the season finale. Even though the judges’ scores only count for half of the contestants’ total score, I think they are going to be more critical this week and next, to try to ensure the best dancers are left to compete for the mirrored-ball trophy.
