Dancing with the Stars 2010 is down to the season’s top 5 contestants, which means the fiercest competition is yet to come. Week 8, which is set for May 10th at 8 PM Eastern/Pacific, will feature the remaining celebs and their pro partners tackling not just one but two individual dances. Will pop star Nicole Scherzinger and gold medalist Evan Lysacek once again top the leaderboard? Will comedienne Niecy Nash finally outstay her welcome and exit? Here’s a preview of Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8, along with a few predictions.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 preview: Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough. The perfectionistic Pussycat has enjoyed mostly hearty praise from judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba since week 1. Just last week, in fact, Carrie Ann dubbed Nicole the best dancer “by far” to ever appear on Dancing with the Stars. Since she’s so good, though, she’s also subject to additional scrutiny, per the judges. Her week 7 Waltz scored an impressive 27, but all three paddle-toters noted a few “technical things” during the performance.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 will see the dynamic duo take on an elegant Foxtrot in addition to a 50s themed Paso Doble. From a technical perspective, there’s no reason to believe that Nicole and Derek won’t dominate both dances. It’ll be interesting, however, to see how they tackle the 50s Paso. It seems like an idea that could really, really work, or really, really not. Regardless, though, Nicole will likely stay on top. After all, Carrie Ann fawns over her, and Bruno loves him a pop star.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 preview: Niecy Nash and Louie van Amstel. The “jiggly parts” loving comedienne survived last week’s elimination, which saw the booting of actress and arguably superior dancer Pamela Anderson, without even suffering the glare of the red lights. Of the 5 remaining hoofers, Niecy is likely the weakest link, so despite having what is clearly an excellent fan base, she and Louie will have to work extra hard to stick around.
DWTS week 8 will feature Niecy and Louie delivering a Viennese Waltz as well as a 90s themed Paso Doble. Their week 3 Waltz earned a respectable 21, which could mean good things for the improved pair’s Viennese Waltz. I’m betting on another comedic performance when it comes to their Paso; after all, theatrics can be a great cover for lack of skill and technique. Good intentions aside, Niecy will likely find herself at the bottom of the leaderboard come Monday.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 preview: Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke. The NFL star and his partner were dubbed veritable DWTS season 10 “contenders” by Len on the merit of their week 7 Viennese Waltz. But can they keep up the greatness long enough to continue on to week 9? We shall see.
Chad and Cheryl are slated to dance both a Tango and a 60s Jive during week 8. Chad tends to do well with dances that require a few ounces of arrogance and power, so their Tango could well be a hit. The 60s Jive? Humor City, baby. The possibilities for comical happenings here are nearly endless. Tune in for Dancing with the Stars week 8, if only for this.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 preview: Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. The gold medalist and his partner earned DWTS season 10’s first perfect score with their fiery, passionate Argentine Tango. It was so good, in fact, that Nicole Scherzinger mega-fan Bruno called Evan “everything a girl would want”. Can they deliver again during week 8? It feels 50/50.
On the positive side, Evan and Anna will dance a Waltz. They did well with their week 1 Viennese Waltz, and Evan is typically strong with ballroom artistry. Their futuristic Cha Cha will likely prove more of a challenge. Although it’s not hard to imagine Evan decked out in spacey couture, it’ll be interesting to see if he can get his hips in gear long enough to stay afloat.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 preview: Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The biggest surprise of Dancing with the Stars week 7 was the ESPN reporter’s shocking finish in the bottom two. Although Erin and Maks survived to dance again, her time under the red lights put fans on notice that they need to get out in force to vote for the pair in the weeks to come, or else.
Week 8 will feature the flirtatious duo taking on the Argentine Tango as well as an 80s inspired Rumba. Given that Erin rocked the 80s hair and make-up during the week 7 Cha Cha challenge, expect great things from their Rumba, as long as they’re able to stay in character and avoid bursting into fitful giggles.
Tune in to Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 8 to see how it all pans out.
