Octomom Kate Gosselin may be gone, but Dancing with the Stars 2010 will roll on come Monday evening with more competitive dancing from the DWTS Ballroom. Week 6 promises more flirty fun and seductive sauciness in the form of a collection of Sambas and Argentine Tangos from the 7 remaining celebrities and their pro partners. In addition, the pros will appear in costumes designed by their celeb partners, and all 7 couples will sway their way through a Swing Dance competition. Will pop star Nicole Scherzinger stay atop the judges’ leaderboard? Will sexpot actress Pamela Anderson overcome her near-elimination experience and re-ignite the ballroom with her fiery flair? Here’s a preview of what’s to come on Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Niecy Nash and Louie vam Amstel. The “jiggly parts”-loving comedienne was dubbed “the shimmy queen” by judge Carrie Ann Inaba and earned praise for her “bounc[ing] bazookas” from head judge Len ‘Crankypants’ Goodman after last week’s Jive. But that was where the good comments ended; Niecy was also harshly critiqued for a glaring lack of “sharpness”, and earned a trio of 6s for her efforts. Week 6 will see the couple take on the Argentine Tango, which should give the bubbly entertainer and her teacher quite the challenge, given her lack of smooth, well-jointed movement thus far in the competition. Unless we see a tremendous improvement, Niecy could (should?) be in trouble come DWTS week 6 results night.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again as long as the former Baywatch babe is still in the competition: Pamela Anderson is the most undervalued competitor on DWTS season 10, bar none. She’s shown a tremendous ability to adapt to different dances and gets into – and maintains – characters like a seasoned pro. Yet she’s still managed to land in the bottom two not once, but twice, thanks not to poor scores from the panel, but because America won’t vote for her. I fully expect that with Kate Gosselin gone, the eyes of judgment will turn solely to Pam. No matter how beautifully she captures the essence of her Argentine Tango (and I fully expect she will), she’ll probably wind up under the right lights. Again. Even if she delivers on last week’s promise to Tonioli to bring back sexy, and even if she gives the leaderboard a good shake.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. The Olympic gold medalist shocked me last week with his smooth-hipped Rumba and earned high praise from all three judges. Italian stallion judge Bruno Tonioli even noted that finding fault with Evan’s performance was like “picking at a diamond”. Week 6 will see the duo taking on the lively Samba, giving Evan another chance to get his hips a’groovin’. Given last week’s success, I’m expecting more greatness this week. I hope. If nothing else, he’ll be gracious in defeat, just as he was when he fell to second place on the leaderboard behind fellow contestant Nicole Scherzinger.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Last week’s Pulp Fiction inspired Jive earned the ESPN sportscaster and her bad boy dancing slash flirting partner good – but not great – marks from the judging trio. Goodman said it was “hectic” but good while Tonioli called it a “breakthrough”. The height-advantaged duo will attempt to Samba their way into American hearts during week 6, and Erin’s long legs could prove a pair of secret weapons. Or the Samba could be a rhythmically challenged disaster for Erin, who is often accused of speeding through her routines.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough. The pop star and her partner reclaimed the top spot on the judges’ leaderboard with their dramatic, sexually charged week 5 Tango. Nicole and Derek earned a near-perfect score of 29 (only Crankypants withheld the coveted 10-paddle) along with a set of sparkling reviews. This week, they’ll turn up the Tempo and fire up the engines for what promises to be a sexy, full-throttle Samba. Nicole can shake it; it is, after all, her mode as a pop star performer. If Nicole’s nerves don’t get the best of her as they did during week 4, look for them to bury the competition.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower. Bachelor Jake and Chelsie’s week 5 Risky Business Cha Cha Cha was good enough to earn the pair the honor of encore dance of the week, even if their final score of 23 wasn’t stellar. Week 6 is Samba-time, which should prove an interesting undertaking for the cowboy-legged pilot. If Jake can avoid falling down, tripping or otherwise mangling his performance this week, he could turn in a solid performance. Maybe.
Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 preview: Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke. The NFL star’s relentless, vaguely bizarre and extremely public pursuit of his pretty partner will continue Monday night as the two tackle the Argentine Tango. The conflicted duo’s week 5 Quickstep divided the judging panel, with Inaba and Tonioli dubbing it “uneven” and “a little too wild” and Goodman calling it “bright and lively”. If Chad can keep his flirtation in his pocket and his mind on the dance, he may have a shot at upping last week’s total of 18. If not, well, they’ll need America’s help to see the dawning of DWTS week 7.
As for the group Swing Dance, expect Nicole Scherzinger and Evan Lysacek to rock it; judges’ faves are judges’ faves, after all. The strugglers? Niecy Nash perhaps, and Jake Pavelka. But we shall see! Tune in to Dancing with the Stars 2010 week 6 on Monday at 8 PM Eastern/Pacific for all of the juicy details, firsthand. Or you can just check in with me. You know I’ll be watching.
