Dancing With the Stars 2010 now heads into Week 8 and the final showdowns. When the 2010 Dancing With the Stars season began, 11 high-profile celebrities were set to go. But with Week 8, there are just five dancers left and just three weeks left for the whole season. The final five features two clear cut frontrunners, and three others who may be peaking at the right time. But the odds say that one of those three others will likely have to go in Week 8. As Dancing With the Stars gets closer to the end, the final pairing is still easy to predict for now.
After Pamela Anderson was voted off, the final five consisted of Nicole Scherzinger, Evan Lysacek, Erin Andrews, Chad Ochocino and Niecy Nash. Scherzinger has been favored from the start, while Lysacek rebounded from a troubling Week 6 to have a perfect score last Monday.
The Dancing With the Stars 2010 season is now in the final act, as the hard work of the last seven weeks will either take its toll, or make the contestants get stronger. Week 8 is bound to test them even further as the contenders will perform two dances during the 90-minute show.
Lysacek is tasked with a waltz and a ‘futuristic cha-cha’ while Scherzinger will do a paso doble from the 50s and a foxtrot. The two will need a few bad performances to fall off the leaderboard by now as Dancing With the Stars 2010 still seems set for a Lysacek-Scherzinger finale.
But as Week 8 approaches, the competition is making most of the headlines. Erin Andrews just came off a rough week due to Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s comments on her outfits. Chad Ochocinco and dancer partner Cheryl Burke are surging as dating rumors about them continue. Meanwhile, Niecy Nash is the surprising member of the top 5, although her luck could still end tomorrow night.
With the likes of Anderson and Kate Gosselin gone, Dancing With the Stars 2010 has lost a bit of star power lately. Since Scherzinger and Lysacek have led all year, the show needs other avenues of buzz since the actual competition remains predictable.
For this week, Andrews, Nash and Ochocinco may carry all the drama as they fight to go on, unless a frontrunner slips up. Lysacek may have had his one bad week already, but will Scherzinger finally become vulnerable soon?
The Dancing With the Stars 2010 Week 8 drama begins tonight at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
