Dakota Fanning is one extraordinary actress blessed with exceptional talent that drove her to stardom at a very young age. There’s something about Dakota Fanning that sets her apart from other celebrities, which makes her cinematic presence linger longer in the limelight than the rest of the pack.
Dakota Fanning has gone a long way since winning the Best Young Actor/Actress award from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her stellar performance in the movie “I Am Sam” in 2001.
Appearing in the two latest Twilight saga installments– “New Moon” and “Eclipse, ” Dakota has once again captivated the young and the old alike as Jane, the spooky and evil Volturi vampire. Her appearance, most especially those vivid penetrating eyes, has had mixed reviews from critics and movie fans. From violent reactions to educated opinions, Dakota’s eyes in these two Twilight movies have become the newest talk of the town.
Portraying Jane made her even more extraordinary; owing of course to the extraordinary way make-up artist Lise Kuhr played up her stunning expressive eyes. The smoky eye makeup gave Dakota that sinister, creepy gothic look. Kuhr manipulated the dark heavy colors to make Dakota’s eyes look more alive, even after hours of grueling shooting schedules. By applying Cinema Secrets Eye Primer on Dakota’s lids and brows, Kuhr was able to blend the dark colors together to bring out that stunning dark, “other wordly” effect on Dakota.
To add more to that sinister look, Kuhr applied a heavy layer of thick black eye shadow from the eyelash line to the crease and combining it with a touch of lift and flare near the outer corners of Dakota’s eyes. Kuhr used the same kind of eyeshadow on Fanning’s lower eyelash line. However, Kuhr made sure that the outer edge is dabbed a little thicker than usual before blending it up with the color on Dakota’s outer upper lid. The black shadow then transformed to dark grey at the middle of her eyelid while the inner upper eye lid transforms into silvery grey. The result produces as “ombre effect” or smooth transitioning of one color unto the next that makes the eyes grow bigger and more radiant. The illusion the makeup creates is a stunning combination of mystery and seduction. It’s how looks can actually kill!
Painting Dakota Fanning’s upper and lower eyelash lines with black cake liner added extra depth. Creating a bit of flare on the upper lid complemented the shape and effect created by the eye shadow. Dakota’s lashes were curled then coated with black mascara. Adding fake eyelashes on top of Dakota’s eyelids gave her lustrous, longer lashes. Finishing off the look is a pair of red theatrical contact lenses, which made her vampire eyes its captivating evil aura.
