CVS Brand Disinfectant Spray vs. Lysol Disinfectant Spray

by itchyfish

Disinfectant sprays are products that I use on a daily basis. Two of the brands of disinfectant sprays that I use most frequently are CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray. Each of these brands offers several scents, or varieties and both brands are quite effective at disinfecting various surfaces and sanitizing indoor air.

While CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray are very similar in many ways, they also maintain distinct differences. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is an article which compares and reviews CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray.

Size
The net weight of the two varieties of CVS brand Disinfectant Spray that I utilize on a somewhat – regular basis is 12 ounces. Each can holds many applications of disinfectant spray and a small amount of these sprays goes a long way.

The net weight of most of the varieties of Lysol Disinfectant Spray is 12.5 ounces. Some varieties of this disinfectant spray are also available in 19 ounce cans. As with the CVS brand Disinfectant Sprays, only a small amount of these sprays are needed to disinfect or sanitize an area.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 12 ounce can of CVS brand Disinfectant Spray at Hartford, Connecticut area CVS Pharmacies is approximately $4.59.

The regular retail price charged for one 12.5 ounce can of Lysol Disinfectant Spray at Hartford, Connecticut area pharmacies and supermarkets is approximately $5.79.

Because I think that these two products are comparable in effectiveness and overall quality, it’s hard for me to justify the $1.20 disparity in price between these two items. To me, the CVS brand Disinfectant Spray is a much more reasonably – priced item.

Uses
Both CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray are useful in many different ways. For starters, each of these products is very good at sanitizing and freshening the air in a room. As opposed to standard – type air fresheners, which I feel only mask odors and add a nice, temporary aroma to an area, these disinfectant sprays actually help to keep the air more sanitary.

One way that I utilize these sprays on a daily basis is by lightly spraying my bed sheets and blankets with them, when I am making my bed. For years, I have been shaking – out my blankets daily, which I think keeps them fresher and the disinfectant sprays add a sense of hygenic cleanliness and nice, fresh scent that adds to the overall cleanliness of the household.

Other uses for disinfectant sprays are applying them to bathroom surfaces such as toilets, sinks, bath tub / showers, garbage pails, rugs, kitchen areas where food is not prepared, diaper pails, hampers, doorknobs, pet areas where food is not eaten, as well as many other uses.

Effectiveness
Personally, I think that both CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray are very effective. These products are very similar in ingredients and are designed to be used in similar ways. While Lysol Disinfectant Sprays are more well – known, the CVS brand Disinfectant Sprays are in actuality just as effective. Plus, they cost considerably less than the Lysol Disinfectant Sprays. The scents offered by each brand of disinfectant spray are also fairly long – lasting

Availability
As the name implies, CVS brand Disinfectant Sprays are regularly stocked and sold at CVS Pharmacies across America.

Lysol Disinfectant Sprays are regularly stocked and sold at supermarkets, pharmacies and other retailers throughout the United States.

How To Use
Both CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray are very easy to use. Simply shake the cans before using and press the spray nozzle, aiming towards the area that you want to disinfect.

Scents
So far, I have utilized the Fresh Linen and Mountain Scent varieties of CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and the Crisp Linen, Garden Mist and Spring Waterfall varieties of Lysol Disinfectant Spray.

When it comes to the linen scent, I prefer the scent of the CVS brand product. I personally think that the Lysol Crisp Linen and Spring Waterfall varieties are somewhat cloying and over – powering. I must say that I really do like the scent of the Lysol Garden Mist Disinfectant Spray, however. It is flowery and pleasant and not overwhelming.

Overall Rating
CVS brand Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfectant Spray are both high – quality, effective disinfectant sprays. Available in various scents, these disinfectant sprays are useful in myriad ways. Although I do think that the CVS brand product is more reasonably – priced, I would still recommend both products.
