Often the core of the inspiration for a theme in any room renovation is color. What colors does he or she like? What type of atmosphere will these colors create? What kind of theme is implied by these colors? All of these questions are points to be considered when you go to pick out your paint. To help you decide, review some of the popular color schemes currently in design. Compare what others are doing and why to choose what is right for your next room renovation.
Natural color schemes are very popular right now. There is a massive and necessary green movement happening right now, so this is no surprise. Comfort in nature is evident. What is more relaxing than taking a hike through a forest or a stroll through a blossoming garden? There is a tranquil quality to nature that is unmatched by man-made themes. Plants alone can be comforting in the home or office. Bringing the outdoors indoors is in right now.
Brown and green combinations are common right now. Be careful when choosing your green. Greens should be light and fresh. Darker, saturated greens will give a dingy, heavy feeling to the room. Remember it will appear much darker when spread on an entire wall than on a small sample space. The brown is more ideal for accenting.
Green and blue combinations are another nature-based popular color palate. Green and blue are safe matches. This is reflected in the calm feeling of being in an empty meadow that touches the sky. The blending of the right blues and greens can be serene and even less intense than a brown and green combination. Greens should be kept soft and so should the blues. Electric blue, true blues, and dark blues are not ideal. Blues like that of the ocean and sky are best. This color palate is used in many sea-inspired hotels.
A variety of shades is best for the most natural, earthy appearance rather than two uniform colors.
Lavender rooms are definitely in right now. Lavender color schemes do have a hint of the natural calm in the other schemes. However, lavender is currently be used to predominately glam up a space in a subtle way with gold accenting. Purple and yellow are definitively complementary colors, but is a bold combination in its truest form. Lavender and gold is the middle route. Keep the gold to a minimum so your space doesn’t end up gaudy. Use it for a touch of elegance and regality. Fill the rest of your space with neutral beiges and off-whites.
Vibrant Pinks are also making a mark on the design scene. This seems to be an exception to the rule, temporary or not. Pinks are funky and girls seem to have an affinity for it. Pinks can be used with oranges to give chic turn on bohemian and Mediterranean looks.
Obviously the natural color schemes will stay in style longer. Of course, redecorating can be inexpensive, fun, and can be redone before any of these styles go out. If you’re planning a room renovation, consider one of these modern color inspirations to start from.
