Creatively Increasing the Amount of Content You Write

by itchy fish

The world of freelance writing has extended from being strictly print to venture into the world of the Internet. The ease of writing web content means that writers are constantly looking for ways to increase the amount of content that they currently have online. Sometimes the rush to create content and get your portfolio to grow can cause you to make it a difficult process. There are simple ways that you can develop new content online.

Use Your Life As Inspiration

You can use your daily life for inspiration when it comes to new content. If you’re trying to save money for a large expense such as a new car or even a house that can be an article or set of articles. Whatever the reason is and the goals you set for yourself can be an article in itself.

The steps that you took to reach your goal of having enough money to pay for the car in full at the time of purchase can be one long article that you can then break up into a series of articles to show the individual steps that you took. Did you stop eating out? Did you put all your change into a jar each week and use it to pay the light bill so you could make a large savings deposit from your paycheck?

There are a number of other things that can be turned into articles such as a child in your home with special needs and how you managed to find the services they need or how you managed when your income wasn’t enough to cover your expenses. Even your budgeting methods and how they change over the years can be turned into new content to use online.

Previous Articles Can Be Used As a Guide

If you are a freelance writer with a client base or even simply publishing your own content you have a number of articles already in existence. These articles can be turned into new articles. Take the article and rewrite it to change the content but keep the meaning. Long articles of 1,000 words or more can be broken down into several shorter articles. Articles on average should not be shorter than 400 words unless the site calls for fewer words; in this case you can get five or six articles out of an article of 1,000 words. Taking a portion of the article to use as a basis for other articles will help you to get more content.

Calls for Content

Some websites will have what they call “calls for content” which specify what they want you to provide for them. Answering these calls will easily add to your online content and give you ideas for expanding on the ideas to turn it into new online content.

Discussion Boards

If you frequent a discussion board of any kind the topics that are most often places that can give you a number of ideas. The disagreements that are found on these boards and how they are resolved along with the friends ships that form or dissolve as a result all make it possible to produce new online content.

Online content doesn’t have to be complicated. There are dozens of ways to develop new content you just have to start with what you have then branch out to other areas in order to find all of them.
