Craft Workshops in Nashville, Tennessee

by itchyfish

Becoming a skilled artisan is a noteworthy goal. Taking workshops can help people who want to hone their skills for a hobby or profession.

Painting

Murat Kaboulov holds workshops at LeQuire Gallery on 4304 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN, and is typically available for one on one sessions at his studio in Brentwood, TN. He attended art college at the Academy of Art in St Petersburg. He specializes in Russian impressionist painting techniques, and he also sculpts. He primarily helps students work on portraiture and still lives. Students bring their own canvas, tools and painting to the workshop sessions. He offers students a worldly perspective on the art-making process.

Sculpting

Alan LeQuire is Nashville’s most popular sculptor. He specializes in realistic, classical Renaissance sculpture. His most famous works include the nude bronze figures by Music Row, Musica, and the Athena in the Parthenon at Centennial Park. He studied sculpture through apprenticeships in Europe and now owns a gallery in Green Hills and on Charlotte Avenue. He holds open studio workshops for students to work freely from a live art model. They use clay that he provides, and they can bring their own armatures.

Acting

Regina Moore is a casting director who has credits placing actors / models in commercials, films, music videos and television shows. Taking a class with her can help aspiring stars work on their craft. She lets students into secrets about auditioning by teaching them improvisational skills and cold reading.

Drawing

David Guidera holds figure drawing and painting classes at Plaza Art Supplies in downtown Nashville. He is an art college graduate who shows his art in galleries. The class is an open studio with a live model. It has a relaxed atmosphere for students who want minimal instruction. They are able to do their own work, ask for advice, and speak about their work with the other people in the workshop. Class typically begins with gesture drawings and ends with a long pose for the last half of the class.
