We can all agree that the Sun’s rays are useful for a variety of reasons, but sunburn really hurts. Even worse, is skin cancer caused by that bright star. Thankfully, by using preventative methods on days when the UV rays are a potential danger, you can minimize having trouble sitting down or getting melanoma. Staying inside is obviously the safest way, but who wants to be in a house for a trip to the beach, or even just for a hike on a summer day? Wearing a hat makes sense, along with an appropriate sunscreen. For a very white and bald guy, it is imperative that I use sunscreen that is SPF 50 or above. Last summer I spent a few days at an amusement park, and came back looking as red as a lobster. Thank God I didn’t grow any claws.A
Does anyone actually like sunscreen lotion? I don’t think so, but if you do, those products are still available. Thankfully, Coppertone and other companies have devised sunscreen via a continuously spraying type of bottle. There’s no more of that gloppy messiness that just seems to stick on you for hours, and no more annoying white liquid marks all over your face. The Coppertone Continuous Spray SPF 50 is packaged in a six ounce bottle, that has a plastic safety seal around the top. It is a bit of a pain to remove with your fingers, but snaps off easily with small scissors or a pocketknife.
All you have to do is depress the button, and generous portions of sunscreen liquid are sprayed wherever you want it. I was amazed by how easy this is, and I was able to provide my legs, arms, back, neck, and face protection in a matter of seconds. While I didn’t do what the bottle suggested, by spraying this on my hands to put on my face, I didn’t suffer from any direct spray side effects. In fact, I actually got this liquid near my eyes and nose, with no sneezing or burning of any kind. There was no skin irritation with this product, and I’m impressed by how it goes on with a “cool sensation.” At least it helps you pretend that, its not as hot as it really is.
This product will indeed last for eighty minutes plus, even in the water, or due to being a sweaty mess. I’ve barely had to re-apply it, and have been amazed by the level of protection. Usually I burn even with SPF 50, but with this spray I had absolutely none. That is really impressive, and I like how this barely has any scent to it whatsoever, unless those nasty lotions. It does have a bit of a bug candle type of aroma to it, but it is not annoying. In fact, after about five to ten minutes it completely disappears. Also if you enter the water, you won’t notice the telltale sign of sunscreen floating away. It really does adhere to your body, providing much better protection that previous forms of this product.
At $7.99 for a six ounce can, its more than affordable enough. Some retailers offer two can packages for a slight discount, but I don’t mind paying this price due to its quality and that this size lasts awhile. The active ingredients include Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate, and Oxybenzone. Inactive ingredients are Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Leaf Extract, Mineral Oil, and fragrance. This is the perfect item to have on beach trips or outdoor excursions. It will fit your shorts pocket, or a small travel bag, and allows you to be protected from the sun all day. That alone is worth its weight in gold, and I just love how easy it is to use as well.
