Most of the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings that I regularly attend usually offer some type of cookies to be enjoyed with the free coffee that is always available. A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to try a variety of Oreo Cookies that I had never seen or heard of before. The type of Oreos that I am referring to are Cool Mint Oreo Cookies and I’m very glad that I got to try them.
Since I am a big fan of chocolate and mint, I figured that I would like these cookies as soon as I saw them. As it turns out, I like these cookies even more than I thought I would. They possess a delightful, well – balanced combination of chocolate and mint flavors that is pleasant and satisfying. I couldn’t help but notice that the Cool Mint Oreo Cookies were a big hit with the other meeting attendees. People all around me were eating and raving about these cookies, with good reason.
I am so impressed with the flavor, texture, appearance and overall quality of Cool Mint Oreo Cookies that I have decided to write a product review of them. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Cool Mint Oreo Cookies.
The net weight of the standard – sized package of Cool Mint Oreo Cookies is 17 ounces. According to the nutrition label, the package contains 16 two cookie servings. As with many other types of food products, I think that this serving size is small. Because Cool Mint Oreo Cookies are so delicious, I think it would be somewhat difficult to eat only two of these cookies, without wanting more. In physical size, the package is virtually the same size as most other varieties of Oreo Cookies.
The regular retail price charged for one 17 ounce package of Cool Mint Oreo Cookies at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $3. Considering the great flavor, number of servings and overall quality of these cookies, I think thatt this price is very reasonable.
The texture of Cool Mint Oreo Cookies is essentially the same as regular – style Oreo Cookies. They feature crisp, chocolate wafers that sandwich a creamy filling. With this variety of Oreos, the creamy filling is green in hue.
Cool Mint Oreo Cookies contain 140 calories, with 60 calories from fat, per two cookie serving. This product also contains 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 7 grams total fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 120 mg of sodium, 40 mg of potassium, 20 grams total carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of dietary fiber, 13 grams of sugars and less than 1 gram of protein, per two cookie serving.
Taste / Flavor
For many years, I have enjoyed eating Oreo Cookies. In addition to regular – style Oreo’s, I have also sampled several other varieties and have been pleased with each type I have tried. Prior to trying Cool Mint Oreo Cookies, I thought that my favorite variety was their Peanut Butter Creme option. After trying the Cool Mint Oreo Cookies however, they have definitely become my favorite type of Oreo’s.
The familiar flavor of the chocolate Oreo wafers is still present in these cookies. The wafers are accented by a delectable mint filling that is refreshing and not too sweet. I actually think that regular – style Oreos taste sweeter than then the mint cookies, but it could be my imagination. Another thing that I like about the flavor of Cool Mint Oreo Cookies is that their mint flavor is under – stated, rather than being over – powering. The balance of chocolate and mint flavors in these cookies is commendable, both flavors work very well together.
These cookies are packaged essentially the same as most other varieties of Oreo Cookies. They are packaged in a plastic tray that is further packaged in a nicely – designed plastic wrapper. The package is easy to open and re – close and it features a handy, top – of – the – package pull tab that makes opening the container even easier. The rear label of the package also lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
Cool Mint Oreo Cookies are very similar in appearance to regular – style Oreo Cookies. The main difference is the fact that the creamy filling in these cookies is green, rather than white. Personally, I think that the green mint filling in these cookies is somewhat of a novelty and that makes eating them fun and interesting. The nice shade of green contrasts well with the dark brown wafers, making them very appealing.
Based on several factors, including taste, number of servings, texture, price and overall quality, I would have to give Cool Mint Oreo Cookies a very good rating. Available at many, but not all supermarkets across America, Oreo Mint Cookies are highly recommended by this food writer.
