We may not know the real purpose of life but we can all be good to others; at least, try to give more than we take! If we all had the same motto in life, our planet would become heaven! Unfortunately, we are not only different by nature & temperament but some go out to create mistrust & disharmony.
Variety is the spice of life! Cultural backgrounds & history can be great learning experiences but also barriers for integration for bigots. They have no space for others’ beliefs & pursuits. Though the world is reaping the benefits of integration in world trade, tourism etc, pockets of dissent threaten to disrupt the whole process.
We come from where, we have no idea; where we go from here, is also equally a grey area! But most will stick to a life of virtue, with certain compromises to get ahead of the pack when realities set-in! But we know what is right from wrong before we cross the boundaries but some do stretch them! Our conscience is the master when the push comes to a shove!
The bottom line is the stresses & strains of daily lives are self-made with great expectations or the reluctance to pursue our dreams. We feel others are lucky but scratch the surface, most work for their success without let-up & with great sacrifices; they are willing to pay the price!
Countries also are no different when it comes to taking their individual paths. The political systems & their leaders reflect their collective conscience. Some can sacrifice freedom & discipline themselves for progress but others are more laid-back! As long as we live & let live, coexistence is a breeze!
We have trouble makers who can win over many with their agenda, more based on self-interests. When they prevail, the common people pay the price ultimately. History is full of such periods of strife, some holding sway over the fate of many, even for generations. The ground realities can be obscured by rhetoric & people are led down the garden path. It is not that easy for them to get out of the clutches.
The modern era of information revolution has broken barriers & people everywhere can assess their fate, comparing themselves to others. They also have the facts to analyze others’ success & to weigh whether they want to follow such paths. Just because, some do not stack-up material wealth, need not mean that they are worse off in life. After all, aspirations vary & there is no one-size-that-fits-all!
For world peace, we should just let the people be as they are & not be forced to conform to standards that they are not mentally balanced to meet. Though mankind has a common destiny, our paths should be allowed to vary, so that we all can find our own balance in our lives! We all know what others do with their lives but material wealth need not lead to happiness; we need to make our own choices; whether we are individuals or nations! Let us find meaning to our lives through different paths but our destiny is shared!
