“And afterward Moses and Aaron went, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord of Israel, let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said who is the Lord that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the lord; neither will I let Israel go” (Exodus 5:1-2).
Meeting resistance or obstacles in the course of carrying out God’s instructions or assignments should not be an opportunity to give up, rather it should be a time to allow God to manifest His sovereignty over creation and circumstances. Moses and Aaron went down to Egypt armed with the divine commission to deliver Israel from bondage. They met Pharaoh and gave him the message from the God of Israel. The message was very clear and direct, “let my people go, that they may hold feast unto me in the wilderness.”
Friends, God’s desire for you this year is to get out of every spiritual, physical, emotional or financial bondage that you have found yourself. Yes, your appointed time of deliverance has come. You cannot afford to continue in bondage, when all the heavenly dynamic spiritual armaments have been set in motion to take you from your present unpleasant situation to your place of destiny. But, the choice to be free or not is yours.
It is also unfortunate that many Christians are living below their covenant capabilities, just because they are ignorant of the covenant provisions in God through the blood of Jesus Christ. In 2 Peter 1:2-3, the bible says, “grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” All you need to do to come out of every bondage you have found yourself is to have a working knowledge of the divine provisions in the everlasting covenant made on your behalf this day through the blood of Jesus Christ and appropriate it. Know this, there are provisions made for you to prosper, be in health as your soul prospers. Remember that Jesus said that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
Moses and Aaron told Pharaoh that the reason why Israel had to leave Egypt was to feast unto God in the wilderness. God wanted Israel to feast, but that was not going to be in the land of Egypt. You cannot serve God fully unless every form of bondage in your life is broken. Many Christians are enduring, instead of enjoying their relationship with God, just because they are still being hindered by Egyptian environment. Some are still struggling with sin; some are influenced by marine spirits, ancestral spirits, satanic curses, and witchcraft. Others, though in the church, still belong to occult groups, etc. This is not the will of God for his children.
I confronted a woman leader and a Sunday School teacher in one of the Pentecostal Churches some years back, after God gave me a terrifying revelation about her diabolic activities in the church. When I approached her to know exactly what she was enjoying being an agent of Satan in the church, I was shocked that she confirmed the revelation and also told me that even if I had told her that she fell down and became a snake that she would not doubt it. She further told me how about seven pastors attempted to deliver her, but could not. She was practically hindering that church from progressing. This particular incidence made me to realize that, it is possible for one to hold a very important position in he church, yet remain in satanic bondage. She was holding very important and strategic positions in that church.
If you’re in such a situation, I have a good news for you. The bible says that it is for this purpose that the son of God was manifested; that he might destroy the works of the devil. I am sure that you can be delivered today, if you so desire. There cannot be feasting in Egypt. You must come out, only then you can be able to feast unto God.
Pharaoh resisted the word of God. He rebuked Moses and Aaron for approaching him with such an ‘idle’ message and dared their God. When oppositions, situations and the powers of darkness are resisting you as a child of God, I would like you to know that they are also challenging the sovereignty of your God. That was why God told Jehoshaphat, “Be not afraid nor dismayed by the reason of this great multitude; FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOUR’S BUT GOD”S.” Praise God! I see God taking over all the battles in your life today – in Jesus’ name. He is saying that you don’t need to fight in that battle, but you must stand still and position yourself well. You are serving a God of war, a mighty man in battle, the captain of the host of heaven, the lion of the tribe of Judah; who has never lost a battle.
Unfortunately, for Pharaoh, he saw Moses and Aaron but could not see the mighty one of Israel, the creator of the universe, the king of kings and the God of covenant; who was waiting anxiously to bring His words to pass. Friends, your enemies have not fully realized the authority behind your commission. By the time God manifests Himself to them, they will have no choice than to surrender to the Lord of battles.
With Pharaoh’s obstinacy, Moses, Aaron and the children of Israel were thrown into confusion. Pharaoh had increased their burden, officers of Israel beaten by their taskmasters and the authority of their God queried. Amidst all these perplexities, Moses returned unto the Lord for consultation. The best thing to do when we meet tough oppositions on our ways is to return to our source – God. It was as if God was waiting for Moses to come and complain to Him. He did not wait for him to finish his complaint when He stated His promise based on the covenant with their forefathers, “Then the Lord said unto Moses, now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand he shall drive them out of his land. And God spoke unto Moses and said unto him, I am the Lord and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them,” (Exodus 6:1-3). Great! The bible says that even if the heaven and earth shall pass away, but not the smallest part of His word. Remember also that man’s extremity will always be God’s opportunity of helping and saving. So cheer up!
God renewed His promise by His name Jehovah (the covenant keeping God). He also reminded Moses that He has no changed His earlier commitment to His covenant with their fathers. I want you to know that the situation you are in now cannot in any way change God’s plans for you life. Till next week, God bless!
