If you are going to be in the Atlanta Georgia area, than you might want to visit the “World of Coca Cola”.
Even if you aren’t an avid soda drinker, you still might enjoy visiting this neat little museum and tasting center.
The World of Coca Cola is located at 121 Baker Street Nw. The hours of operation vary on different days, but they open as early as 9 a.m. and close as late at 7:30 p.m.
Adults ages 13-62 are $15, seniors over 65 are $13, kids ages 3-12 are $10 and children under 2 are free.
They also have special ticket offers that take several attractions in the Atlanta area, including The World of Coca Cola and The Georgia Aquarium among others for a low price.
Upon entering, you will see several large displays of Coke bottles. These have been at the Olympics and is a great picture taking opportunity for you and your family. This is where you will wait until your tour begins.
Once your tour starts, you will enter a room filled with Coke memorabilia. You can look in every direction, and floor to ceiling, and see something Coke. A tour guide will tell you some history and let you know what to expect while touring the facility.
After this area, you are basically on your own to travel the various things to do.
You can “ride” a movie in a large theater. You get to wear 3-D glasses while you watch this cute, short movie that is rather entertaining and better than you might expect.
Next, take a picture with the famous Coca Cola Polar Bear. There might be a short line, but it is well worth an amazing picture.
Explore the pop art room, where various artists have rendered paintings about this beverage and see an old time counter with bar stools that is also another great photo spot.
Walk through a small bottling facility. You can see bottles filled with Coke. You can even take one with you on your way out to the Coca Cola store. If you have imagined it, the store carries it. From t-shirts, lip gloss, kid’s toys, to salt and pepper shakers, you can buy a multitude of souvenirs here. I really enjoyed the store, and even though it’s rather busy, there is plenty of space to roam around and look through all their things. I bought some Sprite flavored lip gloss, and believe it or not, it really smelled and tasted like the famous lemon-lime soda. This would be great for the little girls in your life. For the boys, grab a stuffed polar bear toy for them to carry around on the rest of your stay in Atlanta.
Even though I really enjoyed the whole museum, I was anxious to visit the tasting room. You can actually sample 60 different types of soda from around the world. Many are tasty, but some aren’t. I think this was the most fun of the entire museum. You can spend a great deal of time here, especially if you have kids. There is also a regular Coke room with the kinds you will be familiar with. Drink as little or as much as you want! Be careful though, your kids might be on sugar overload if you let them!
The World of Coca Cola is honestly a great family place to visit in your stay in Atlanta. You might not think that a museum about a drink could fulfill the afternoon, but it really does. If you are planning to visit the other attractions in Atlanta, I would look into buying the MVP pass for a little under $100 per person to get the most out of your stay here.
