At first glace, Thai House appears to be nothing more than a hole in the wall restaurant off of Sheridan Boulevard in Arvada, Colorado. Located inside of a shopping center just south of Highway 36 and 15 minutes from Downtown Denver, this family-owned and operated Thai restaurant specializes in authentic Thai cuisine at affordable prices.
The atmosphere at Thai House is relaxed and casual. The walls are painted bright marigold and are decorated with Thai dolls, paintings and portraits of famous celebrities and political leaders in Thailand. Each table is lit with an ornamental lantern, and there is even a large, 100 gallon aquarium filled with fish. Most of the staff at the restaurant are family members of the owners, and all of them are very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. Even when the restaurant is filled with customers, the kitchen staff manage to get the food out extremely quickly.
With about 10 booths and 6 tables, this small restaurant often runs a waiting list during lunch time, as their food is truly addictive and their lunch specials are unbeatable. For $6.95, you can get two large “half portions” of any entree of your choice, as well as soup or salad and an egg roll.
In addition to authentic Thai entrees such as Pad Thai and a variety of different curries, Thai House offers a host of Thai beverages, including Thai beer and Thai iced tea with pearl. Desserts and appetizers are also available, including spring rolls, sate, mango sticky rice and green tea ice cream. You can order jasmine, green, rose and crysanthemum tea by the pot, or choose from their selection of sodas, beers and wines.
Customers can select how spicy they want their food to be, ranging from mild to extra hot. Be aware that the extra hot is spicier than most chili peppers, and is truly only for extreme spice lovers. The portions at Thai House are gigantic and affordable. Most entrees will be able to fill two people, so when going in a group you may want to only order one entree for every two people and just share a little bit of everything.
There are meat and vegetarian entrees available, and with most curries and noodle dishes you have your choice of beef, pork, chicken, shrimp or tofu. Many of their entrees cost less than $8.00, making this one of the most affordable Thai restaurants in the Denver area.
Thai House also offers carryout and delivery for customers in a hurry, with no extra charge for delivery.
