One of the best things about living in Colorado is having four seasons, but don’t think that living in Colorado means you have to give up going to the water slide park in the winter. The Apex Center in Arvada, Colorado has the best indoor water park in the Denver Metro Area. Although district residents receive discounts on the facilities and activity fees, the Apex Center is open to the public.
The Apex Center is just one facility of the Arvada Park and Recreation District, but it has everything you need to have fun, get fit and stay active year round. Drop-in Group Fitness and Aquacise classes at the Apex Center are included with your daily admission fee. There is a party room if you want to plan a party and a snack bar if the kids get hungry.
Swimming At The Apex (as us locals call it)
There is a lap pool, aquatic recreation experience, adult and family spa and spacious men’s, woman’s and family locker rooms. I personally enjoy the family locker rooms. It includes private stalls with changing area, shower and toilet. This is especially helpful to me, because I have a young boy.
The indoor activities pool at Apex Center is second to none, there are two activity pools as a matter of fact. The swim area is a mountain and mining theme with 23,000 square feet of fun. The first activity pool is geared for the older kids, it has two curbed water slides 150 foot long, a whirl pool vortex and mini obstacle course. The pool is 3 to 5 feet deep in some areas. Children under 6 must ride with an adult. A section of the slide pool is closed 8:30 to 11:00 Monday through Saturday for swim lessons.
This zero-depth “beach themed” pool has slides, fountains, geysers and waterfalls. Although my 7 year old is able to use the big water slide now, he still can not get enough of the play pool. This an open swim area. Children under 6 need to be properly supervised.
Apex Center Clubhouse
The Clubhouse Adventure Playground is always free. This paradise is an interactive playground for children 1-10. There are tubes, ladders, slides and other fun features. It is themed and designed like a giant tree house and the children have a blast. Children ages 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult, which means you can allow the older children to play while you take in some exercise in the gym. There is childcare available in the clubhouse for a fee. Check out the link below for questions on hours and fees.
Awesome! The Apex Center has an indoor Colorado rock wall that is spacious and accommodate up to seven climbers at a time. The routes on the wall will challenge everyone from novice to veteran. You must be 18 years old or have parent permission to use the wall. Be prepared to pass a certification course and sign a waiver. There is safety equipment and staff on hand.
Ice Skating and Ice Hockey
This activity speaks for itself. Information about the Apex Center Ice Arena can be found by clicking these links Ice Skating and Ice Hockey
Fitness Center and Indoor Walking Track
Apex has a decent fitness center. There are weight machines, free weights and cardio equipment. There is a Cycle Burn group, personal trainers and physical therapy. This facility has everything you need to get and stay fit.
