Over 50 years of speed at Bandimere Speedway’s Thunder Mountain in Denver Colorado. This family own and operated track received sanctioning from the National Hot Rod Association in 1968. A decade earlier, in 1957 John Bandimere Sr., with the help of Jefferson County Commissioners was issued a building permit for a parcel of land that would become the “Safety Proving Grounds of America” a performance park and education center. John Bandimere Sr. had a vision for the property that included garages to teach youth about automotive repair and performance, a high-altitude testing facility, along with an oval track and drag strip. Before John Bandimere’s death in 1986, at age 78 he received the honor of being inducted into the Colorado Motor sports Hall of Fame.
