Summer in Wisconsin is a great time to spend time doing anything that involves the outdoors. It is the perfect state for all outdoor lovers no matter what you enjoy doing. One of the most popular summer family activities is going up North to the cottage. If you don’t own a cottage, don’t worry there are plenty to choose from that you can rent.
One of my favorite resorts to stay at in the summer is the Coachlite Resort. It is located in the beautiful and famous Northwoods of Wisconsin at 9484 Country Club Road. It is just one mile out of the town of Minocqua. Minocqua, Wisconsin is well known for outdoor activities for tourists. Once you see the beauty of the area and the size of Lake Minocqua once you will know why.
There are endless activities that you can participate in at Coachlite Resorts. No matter what outdoor activity you enjoy doing you can find it here. From swimming in Lake Minocqua, to water activities like boating, water-skiing, water tubing, Jet-skiing, fishing, or just relaxing on the pontoon. There are 5 chains of lakes that connect that offer you 63 miles of shoreline. So you have lots of area of water for entertainment.
For swimming the water is fairly clear and has a sand bottom. Next to the resort the swimming area gets to about 8 feet deep only. But there is a 150 by 8 foot dock there were you can relax in the sun as you watch the kids swim. It is a great area for kids of all ages.
State Park Bearskin Trail is close to the resort also. Here you will find 18 miles of scenic trails that take you from the Minocqua Post Office to Heafford Junction. This is perfect for hiking or biking. The skill level for this trail is moderate. It gets a little hilly at parts, but not too bad at all. You can take your time on this trail and enjoy the wildlife around you. Make sure to take your camera, you will want to take some pictures on the way.
At the playground area, the kids of all ages will find lots of different things to keep them entertained. There is badminton, basketball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, volleyball, a large sandbox to play in, swings, teeter-totters, and slides. So you should not hear the words “I am bored” from them.
If you want you can also drive a mile into town and explore what Minocqua has to offer. Here you will find great restaurants and bars, fun gift stores to shop at, golf, horseback riding, small amusement parks and animal zoos, waterski and lumberjack shows, museums and many other interesting activities.
For cottages to rent from Coachlite Resort, you have the choice of anywhere from 1 bedroom to 3 bedroom cottages. The cottages offer all the amenities that you need like refrigerators, free high speed internet, grills, a patio to relax on, a TV with 60 channels with a DVD player and VCR, toasters, lots of cabinet space, a picnic table to eat at, and much more. It is very comfortable and roomy in the cottages and is decorated to make you feel like you are at home.
The prices for the cottages are very reasonable. It all depends on what time of year you are going, how many people and so on. So I would just give them a call to check out the rates. Also there is no charge for children under the age of 6 years old. So that is great for families with young children on a budget.
For payment methods, unfortunately they do not accept credit cards yet. So you have to pay with cash or cashiers checks. You can use a personal check for deposit only, and then you need to pay cash. And the unfortunate rule is that pets are not allowed on the premises of Coachlite Resorts. But that might not be a bad idea, I have been to places that allow pets and not everyone cleans up after them.
Overall I highly recommend checking into Coachlite Resorts if you are planning a trip to the Northwoods. It is clean, reasonably priced, great atmosphere, lots to do, close to town, and just an all around perfect location for families or couples.
