For decades Global Warming, also known as Climate Change, has been a long drawn out debate of who holds responsibility for changing climates, man or nature. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) has been discoursed by some as a major culprit of global warming, while others believe the increase is a product of the Earth warming. Those who say that CO2 is a cause of global warming often blame man for its increase. Those who say increased CO2 is a natural effect of a warmer earth, place little or no blame upon man. For this, those who believe man is responsible, they’ve been labeled alarmists and those who doubt… skeptics.
Where the CO2 emmissions data comes from. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Monitoring Division located at the Mauna Loa station in Hawaii makes public its carbon dioxide parts per million (ppm) readings. The CO2 readings as of April 2010 are 392.39 ppm, up from 389.46 in April of 2009. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Mauna Loa is the world’s largest volcano. It makes up half of the island and is also noted as an active volcano. CO2 along with other greenhouse gasses are emitted from volcanos. Although the carbon dioxide emissions would be minimal to volcanic standards when not erupting, they still remain higher than normal. This leaves no worse than the Mauna Loa station to attain accurate human contribution to global CO2 emission. However, the station would most certainly demonstrate natural causation for the increase of CO2.
Computerized readings. Global warming alarmists have used computers to input data received from the Mauna Loa station to add as evidence of mans contribution to the change in climate. The computerization predicts possible catastrophic events in the near future if CO2 continues to increase at the current rate. Now let’s go back to the source, the data is unreliable for predicting man made global CO2 emmissions. Also, computers can not account for the unpredictable increased temperatures from the sun, solar flares and other heat sources which would create a natural increase in CO2 emmissions.
The Climate Scandal. Remembering November of 2009, an investigation began that rattled the man made global warming alarmist community after a climate-gate website was created by a whistleblower. The site alleges the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit hid 1073 e-mails and 3485 pieces of data that related to or contradicted the theory of man made global warming. Although the University of East Anglia is based in England, the investigation includes a climate scientist from Penn State University.
Scientific philosophy. Occam’s razor “We are to admit no more causes of natural things than such as are both true and sufficient to explain their appearances. Therefore, to the same natural effects we must, so far as possible, assign the same causes.” Under this basic philisophy, arbitrary and lack of evidence of mans responsibility for the increase, and a major doubt raised by the alleged scandalous actions of scientists, natural events hold the responsibility for the warmer globe. The burden of proof is and remains a requirement of man made global warming alarmists, because global carbon emmissions date back long before man, or industry existed.
