Chuck Liddell Should Retire From The UFC.
Chuck Liddell was one of the greatest UFC champions. He was a knockout puncher and his fights were exciting. Another fighter would try to punch Chuck and Liddell would beat the fighter to the punch. Often, Chuck Liddell would knockout the other fighter. Chuck Liddell is no longer the same fighter. His speed is gone. The younger fighters are out punching Chuck. Chuck Liddell has been picking himself off the campus for two full years of MMA fighting. The only fight Chuck Liddell has not lost was to another slow fighter, Wanderlei Silva.
I have watched nearly every one of Chuck Liddell’s UFC fights. The past four out his last five fights have made me cringe. Chuck was a slowed fighter and he lost to younger, faster fighters. How many times must Chuck Liddell taste the canvas before he finally admits it is time for his career to end? I do not want to see the medics have to come to the ring and cart Chuck Liddell away. He is a great former UFC Champion. I wish Dana White would tell Chuck Liddell it is time to end his career. The problem with Dana White is he knows Chuck Liddell still draws fans. Fans mean money and Dana White is money hungry.
Chuck Liddell will fight Rich Franklin in UFC 115. I will watch this fight, hoping that Chuck does not fall face first on to the UFC mat. I will hope he regains his speed of old and fights a good fight. I will hope against hope that the old Chuck Liddell will come back for one last great fight. Chuck may win or lose this fight against Rich Franklin. I think Franklin is too fast for the older Liddell, but I am a fan, and I have to hope. I think Rich Franklin is also a great former champion, so I do not know whom to root for in the fight. I root for one thing and one thing only, this will be Chuck Liddell’s last fight in the UFC. Take a hint from fighters from the past Chuck. When you lose your speed, it is time for you to retire.
Chuck, if you read this, do not get angry with me. Your fans love you. You are a great UFC fighter. I am older than you are and I do not want you to find me, so you can beat me up. I want you to realize it is time for you to take a bow and end the Chuck Liddell show. Your retirement train drove away without you two years ago. Quinton Rampage Jackson showed you how your speed was gone. Keith Jardine battered you with those horrible legs kicks. Rashad Evans and Mauricio Rua were both too young and too fast for you. Chuck Liddell, the retirement train has come back for another ride into UFC glory. Please step on to the train and retire when you still have your senses. This comes from a fan who has loved watching you over the years. Chuck Liddell, it is time for you to retire before you get hurt.
