Dr. Frankenstein’s got nothing on you. You can make a cheap and easy operation table for your haunted house that puts the fright in frightening. This Halloween, wow all your haunted house guests with this ghoulish nightmare. Scalpel in hand, you can horrify even the bravest guests with your gruesome operating techniques. Here’s how you can make a scary operation table for your next Halloween haunted house.
An old weight lifting bench makes the best scary operating table. You can dangle an IV bag from the weight support racks. Make an IV bag by filling a large gallon size plastic freezer bag with water. Place magic marker lines on the side to make it look realistic. Punch a hole through the top above the seal. Loop a string through the hole for hanging. Tape clear stretchy elastic craft cord to the bottom of the bag where the tape can’t be seen. The cord leads to the patient’s “hand” where it is taped on with a tomato juice bloodied cotton ball. A shop light hangs above the scary operating table.
The Halloween haunted house operation scene prop is like no normal operating room. This operation has gone on too long. The patient is all bones with a bit of blood and guts for effect. In fact, he’s just a skeleton. He’s wearing a blood splashed white sheet with just his head and torso exposed. His chest is covered in extracted body parts. The bony hand with the IV taped to it dangles from the scary operating table, dripping in blood. This can all be done with just a white sheet, fake skeleton, some tomato juice blood and store bought or homemade body organs.
So, how do we make all the Halloween gore on the scary operating table? Lets start with the intestines. You can make intestines very easily using red and white play dough. Simply roll two – three foot snakes of play dough, one of each color together. Now mangle the dough so it varies in thicknesses. Pile the dough snakes on the skeletons stomach. You can make the rest of the organs cheaply from play dough or purchase them at a Halloween store. Pile them randomly on the intestines. Now pour tomato juice over all the gore. Remove a few organs and place them on the sheet. Dangle a bit of the intestines from the table.
The doctor is in, but that may not be a good thing. A pair of bloody scrubs, a fake stethoscope and name badge are worn by the Doctor for this Halloween haunted house prop. He’s holding a bloody organ in one hand and a fake scalpel in the other. A plastic pallet knife works great as a scalpel. You can make the doctor as scary as you like using a mask or Halloween make up. As visitors enter the operating room the doctor looks up with a mad green and inquires, “Next?”.
