Occasionally I have a need to purchase some drug items or have film developed. The place I usually go to address these needs is at Walgreens. I find that they have an array of things that I enjoy using. It seems they always have a special or promotion going on.
While on a recent trip to their photo department I noticed a display regarding their Rewards Program. Because I am a person who likes saving money, this inquiring mind wanted to know more about it. A friendly customer service representative directed me to where a table had been set up with brochures providing additional information. An application was included. There is no fee for joining the program. Membership in this program does not expire but they do reserve the right to cancel membership at any given time.
Within minutes I gave the completed application to the cashier. She in turn handed me two cards, one which could be conveniently placed on my key ring. On the card is your membership number. Presently this program is available in Kansas City, MO; Richmond, VA and Portland, OR. You can contact them and see when it may be offered in your particular area.
By using your card, consumers have a way to save on hundreds of items that Walgreens have on sale on a weekly basis. You earn 10 reward points per dollar spent in the store. Additionally, you can earn 100 points for each prescription (300 for 90 days). An asterisk notation on the brochure indicates the following, “For items and conditions, please visit www.WalgreensRewards.com. You can get a chance to enjoy your choice of rewards, certificates, gift cards, and merchandise”.
When you receive a Walgreens Reward Certificate it is good only for in-store savings .It is valid for 90 days after being issued. It cannot be redeemed on line. A good point to make is that this certificate can be used in conjunction with other Walgreens or manufacturer discounts and/or promotions.
Participants have 3 years to redeem their points for great gifts. Only the account holder can have points redeemed. They cannot be given to another person. There is no limit to how many in a household can have a reward card. However, the person must be at least 13 years old to enroll in the program. Families have an option of linking their cards and pulling their points together.
By registering online you can keep track of how many points you have accrued. It can take up to 2 weeks before it shows up online. Tracking online is especially advantageous if you forget to give the cashier your rewards card at the time of purchase. When going online steps are given how you can enter the proper information from your receipt at your home.
If you should lose our card you simply contact them by calling 1-877-WAG-REWARDS or 1-877-924-7392.
A sampling of merchandise items that you can receive are as follows with the required points needed: Paula Deen Signature 2-Piece Silicone Spatula Set (10,600); Reebok Pilates Ball Kit (11,000); Nine West Silver Pendant Necklace (12,700) and Wii Dance Pad (13,600). More options can be seen at their www.WalgreensRewards.com
Gift Cards and Certificates can be earned from Subway, AMC Theatres and Salon Wish to name a few choices among many. Again check at their website.
If you’re already a Walgreen shopper you will especially reap the benefits. After all who has an aversion to saving money and in the process making themselves eligible for some gifts at the same time?
