It feels like everywhere I turn lately there is another picture of Amanda Seyfried or another commercial for another movie she is starring in. I first saw this starlet as the sweet but uber-dumb blond Karen on Mean Girls. Where did Amanda Seyfried come from, where is she going and how does she manage to stay off of TMZ?
According to IMDB, Amanda Seyfried grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Seyfried came from what appears to be a typical family with working parents and one sister. Early on Seyfried was interested in theatre and modeling. Seyfried studied theatre as well as went to see theatre in nearby New York City. Modeling was the start of Seyfried’s career as she began with Image International Agency in Allentown, went on work with Bethlehem’s Pro Model Agency also in PA and then onto the prestigious Wilhelmina Agency in New York City.
Seyfried got her first big roles in 2004 with Karen in Mean Girls and Lilly on Veronica Mars. Originally auditioning for the parts of Cady and Regina in Mean Girls Seyfried was beat out by Rachel McAdams and Lindsey Lohan but was perfectly cast as Karen. Later on in her career she beat out McAdams for the role of Sophie in Mama Mia.
Seyfried is not often seen in the tabloids or on TMZ and she credits that to just being normal and not doing anything outrageous. Her biggest TMZ catch was for commenting on the kissing scene with Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body.
It is obvious how down to Earth Amanda Seyfried is when you check out the May issue of Self Magazine where she was the cover girl. Self asks Seyfried about her body image and she responds with thoughts that it is weird for her to play the romantic lead as she does not think of herself as typically pretty. Even as a model she has said she had braces and was really skinny, not the typically pretty face. Seyfried offers a great tip for all the girls out there which is work out to feel good, build up your endorphins and not cosmetically change yourself. It seems as if Amanda Seyfried is coming to terms with who she is and wishes others the same. Maybe it comes from working with Meryl Streep in Mama Mia and being able to see one of the best actresses out there who is so very comfortable in her own skin.
Seyfried is in and out of the news for good reason. She is a hard worker, not a crazy party girl who skips out on court hearings while partying in other countries. Amanda Seyfried works hard and is great at her craft. She has said that if she was not an actor she would have liked to study Meteorology. Perhaps she is like her Mean Girl character Karen whose boobs could tell when it is going to rain, or well, when it is raining.
