The web is buzzing with conflicting reports on the condition of Bret Michaels. According to his website, BretMichaels.com, as of Sunday night, Bret is suffering from a brain hemorrhage and remains in critical condition in the ICU. The source of bleeding remains unknown and Bret’s symptoms include dizziness, blurred vision and slurred speech.
Since Celebrity Apprentice is filmed in advance, Bret is vivaciously front and center in this week’s episode as the celebrities create and lead a workout class for 24 Hour Fitness. It is difficult to reconcile the two conflicting “realities”. NBC closes the show with a brief message saying, “Everyone here at NBC wishes Bret Michaels a speedy recovery”, but it seems so inadequate considering the severity and uncertainty of his condition. At least he does not get fired in this episode.
Trump Puts the Rock in Rocksolid
Donald Trump mixes the teams and puts rockers Sharon Osbourne, Bret Michaels and Maria Kanellis together on team RockSolid. The remaining celebrity apprentices, Holly Robinson Peete, Cyndi Lauper, Chef Curtis Stone and Summer Sanders join to form team Tenacity.
Cyndi Lauper’s Thing with Lady GaGa
Cyndi begins the task by explaining she has to leave for a “previous thing I’ve gotta do with Lady GaGa”. She says she cannot raise much money and Harvey Fierstein probably cannot donate because a dog bit him. She goes into some weird monologue about stalking David Hasselhoff and almost gets whacked with the door as she follows Holly into the 24 Hour Fitness. She is in the background for most of this episode, seemingly trying to keep mum on Holly’s task, but Cyndi is becoming the new Rod Blagojevich with her unintentionally funny antics.
Cyndi Lauper’s Mom Bests Lady GaGa
Cyndi’s elderly mother, Catrine Dominique, gave generously by donating $500 and attending the workout class “Buns and Guns”. Meanwhile, Lady GaGa only donated $2,500. Maybe too much of her money goes to her wardrobe, but the little monster master looks cheap giving such a small amount when others were giving much more.
Another Reality Show Coincidence?
The WWE and Ozzy are in town for this task. Although Ozzy doesn’t appear on Celebrity Apprentice, Sharon visits the WWE event and the WWE, Vince McMahon and John Cena each give a $10,000 donation.
Bret Michaels Says “You ll Work Muscle”
It looks like RockSolid’s Bret makes a few mistakes on the teams fliers, but maybe it is more of a Freudian slip. With moves like the Tour Bus Thrust, his workout routine heavily focuses on one area.
There is a lot of sexual innuendo as the three work on their fitness routine. Bret comments about the hotness of everyone from Mickey the trainer to Lindsay the graphic artist. Sharon patrols the exercise class with a whip in hand, in case any of the participants fall behind.
No One Gets Fired in Episode 7 of Celebrity Apprentice
Although Tenacity’s workout is more balanced, the executives at 24 Hour Fitness love the concept of RockSolid’s workout and choose it as the winner. However, Holly’s fund raising efforts win the overall task as Tenacity raises the most money.
Trump goes through the usual boardroom banter, but ultimately he decides not to fire anyone. He says it is because the celebrities raised a record-breaking amount of money on this task, $347,893, and he has a heart, but it is more likely because he wants to squeeze more out of the new teams.
Season nine of Celebrity Apprentice finally has a good mix of personalities on both teams. RockSolid is wild, entertaining and unpredictable, but Bret, Sharon and Maria get along too well for the show’s usual formula. The business-minded team Tenacity has the intensity to lead to a celebrity showdown, which is what Trump keeps trying to instigate in the boardroom.
