Keystone is located within a short distance of Chief Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, and Custer’s Park. The area is in dead center of the Black Hills and provides the beautiful scenery of the area. The trees are an important part of the surrounds and supply great shade and beauty to the area.
Kemp’s Kamp
Kemp’s Kamp is located at 1022 Old Hill City Road in Keystone, South Dakota. This well-maintained beautiful camp provides camping sites for both tents and RV. Several one, two and three bedroom cabins are available for individuals wishing to enjoy nature without having camping equipment. The cabins come fully furnished, including satellite television
Kemp’s Kamp is centrally located between Keystone, Custer, Deadwood, Hill City, Hot Springs, Spearfish, Lead and Rapid City.
Camping fees at Kemp’s Kamp will cost a camper $24 to $39 with an extra person fee of $3.50 for anyone over the age of 7. RV camping will cost. Sleeping campers are available to rent for $44 a night that sleep six.
Kemp’s Kamp also has six cabins that will cost between $69 to $109 per night. The cabins are fully furnished and even have satellite television and Wi Fi service.
Spokane Creek Cabins & Campground
Spokane Creek Cabins & Campground is located at 24631 Iron Mountain Road in Keystone. The campground is bordered by the great Black Hills Forest. All sites are on large grassy sites that are level with lots of room. Each site has electrical and water. A picnic table is provided for every camper. Fire rings are available if appropriate for use according to the South Dakota DNR. There are 20 cabins available to rent that sleep from four to eight people.
Camping rates run from $22.50 to $44.50 per camp site. Cabin rates include a pavilion and run between $25 to $315 a night. Call ahead for reservations when wanting a cabin.
Activities at the park include swimming in the heated pool, over 500 miles of hiking and biking trails, Trout fishing, several small lakes and streams are nearby for water activities, miniature golf on site, a playground, a volleyball court, a basketball court, many types of wildlife to be seen, the Spokane Ghost Town buildings, and a beautiful view of the Black Hills.
Elk Horse Camp Havevn
Elk Haven Horse Camp is located at 24656 Iron Mountain Road in Keystone. Camping cabins and RV sites are available at this campground. All camping sites have full hook-ups and the availability of a gift store, general store, gas, modern showers, laundry facility, free morning coffee and many horse trails.
Elk Haven is a camp that offers horse corrals for those individuals wishing to bring their own horse. Horses can also be rented to enjoy the many trails surround the campground.
The amenities for each camp site is a corral, BBQ grill, fire pit and a picnic table. This includes both the cabins and the RV camp site. House cabins rent for $100 a night and can sleep up to nine people. Camping Cabins rent for $40 and can sleep four to five people. Camp sites cost either $24 or $28 depending on what type of hook-up is desired. The rates include two person occupancy. An extra charge of $4 per night will be charged for everyone 13 and older.
Wolf People Keystone
Wolf People Keystone is a campgrounds and a Wolf education center. They are located at 24600 Iron Mountain Road in Keystone. There are 20 tent sites and a large number of RV spaces depending on whether an electrical hook-up is required. Wolf People has two dry cabins and four teepees that can be rented for camping enjoyment. A shower house is nearby. Costs include $20 per tent site for two plus $3 per extra individual, Teepee rental is $30 for 2 and $3 extra per individual, dry-cabin rental is $65 per night for two plus $3 per extra individual; and RV rental sites run between $22.50 and $25 depending on desired hook-ups.
Wolf People Keystone has Spokane Creek flowing through its grounds. Take a short walk and go to the Old Spokane Gold Mine. This campground is open year-round to provide a place for hunters to stay while they hunt for turkey, deer and elk.
Camp Fire Restrictions
The South Dakota DNR has placed restrictions on campfires due to the increase of fear regarding wildfires in the Black Hills area. Campfires are permitted in designated fire containment receptacles. No fire should be and larger than 3′ x 3 ‘ and it must be contained in a proper fire ring or other type of approved receptacle.
