What to Expect from the Cardioke Workout
You’ll get a full body workout during this thirty minute Cardioke workout. It is a high energy and motivating way to burn up those fat cells! If you haven’t hit the club scene in a while, you’ll be introduced to some dance moves that will bust your booty!
Billy has a variety of participants in his exercise group, in all age categories. He points out a woman who had knee surgery and another who is 60, and instructs us to adjust our moves to fit our level of fitness and personal stamina. I found the routine easy to adapt to my level, and wasn’t discouraged that I couldn’t dance like Billy. I looked forward to each new song and enjoyed the dance element of the workout.
Billy’s wife is an active participant in the workout and sings an awesome song she wrote during the final cool-down routine! I believe I saw a tear in one of the workout participants in the video. I wasn’t sure if he was touched by the moving lyrics or just happy he made it to cool-down!
What I Liked about Billy Blanks Jr’s Cardioke Exercise Routine
>I loved the music in the workout video. Billy picked some dance favorites that naturally rev up your exercise engine, like “Let’s Get it Started”, “It’s Your Thing”, “Don Cha (wish your girlfriend was hot like me)”, “Dancing in the Street” and more.
>I enjoyed the dance moves even though I modified some of them due to my stage of fitness.
>I found the intensity of the workout invigorating and heart pumping, which is why I do this!
>I found Billy an enjoyable and motivating instructor who was fun to watch and easy to listen to.
>I enjoyed the fun element of the whole workout that almost masks the fact it is truly a workout!
What I Didn’t Like About the Cardioke Workout
The only improvement I could make to this exercise routine would be Billy’s change cues. Even though most of the time it was easy to shift into the new moves, there were numerous times during the workout that I found myself stumbling to switch feet or shift gears to get in sync with whatever was going on in the routine. A few demonstration moves and a little more advance notice of the change up would have been helpful. But having said that, since a large element of this routine is dance, it wasn’t all that hard to hip hop my way back and join up with the group.
Summary of Billy Blanks Jr’s Cardioke as a Workout Routine
Overall, this is an excellent way to start the habit of working out and get that heart muscle pumping. Since I love music, singing, and dancing, it was a perfect way for me to get my half-hour of exercise in for the day, and have some fun doing it. I look forward to another thirty minutes with Billy and his group soon! Join the Billy Blanks Jr. Dance Club and you just might find yourself busting a move this weekend!
