The American Idol Season 9 finale was full of surprises. It started out with the former contestants singing School’s Out For The Summer. Next thing we know Alice Cooper is on the stage. I had to run upstairs to tell my husband, who will forever be an Alice Cooper fan.
Then I hear the Bee Gees hit How Deep is Your Love being sung by a couple of the former contestants. Next thing I know, Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees are on stage. I will forever be in love with the Bee Gees, particularly Barry Gibb.
By this time I have figured out that no matter what song we hear, the original artist will be showing up on stage. So let’s fast forward to when Casey James started to sing a song I didn’t quite recognize. Then I recognized it and knew it was a Bret Michaels’ tune. OMG I yelled! Bret Michaels will be coming on stage! And sure enough, Bret made an appearance and totally rocked the show by playing his guitar and finishing his hit Every Rose Has a Thorn with Casey James. What a feast for my eyes… my Casey and my Bret!!!
Now everyone is wondering what Bret is thinking of by making all these appearances. Just a few weeks ago he had an emergency appendectomy, a massive brain hemorrhage, a stroke and he discovered he has a hole in his heart. Yet he made it to the live finale of Celebrity Apprentice (and he won), made several TV talk show appearances and now a live performance on American Idol. He is planning to continue his live tour soon. Shouldn’t he be resting? I don’t know how he does it. I was supposed to go to Walmart last night but decided against it because I was a little tired and it was too hot (hey, 80 degrees is hot in Maine!). Guess I don’t have the stamina Super Bret has!
Local reactions to Bret Michaels’ surprise performance on American Idol:
MDM, 87, Sanford: I could not believe it when I saw him. I know him from Celebrity Apprentice and I think he is so handsome. He has such beautiful eyes. I am worried about him. But I’m happy he got to be on American Idol.
Candy, 18, Sanford: Wow! What a show it was! I can’t believe I got to see Bret Michaels. It made me cry. I stood up and cheered for him. I love him.
Ben, 32, Sanford: Way to go dude. Might not be the smartest move but at least he’s doing what he loves. That might be the best medicine.
