Bret Michaels made an appearance on American Idol to perform the classic Every Rose Has Its Thorn. Before his performance he told the audience that he was in the running to be the next American Idol judge.
During the past few months, Bret has under gone emergency surgery for acute appendicitis, suffered a brain hemorrhage, and mini-stroke. Bret Michaels definitely needs a gig that he can sit his @ss down somewhere and rest. Don’t misunderstand. I like Bret Michaels, but I am extremely concerned about his health. He isn’t a spring chicken anymore, so Bret needs to focus on taking care of his body. Bret Michaels has been known to push himself beyond his limits. It’s obvious that Bret is a task oriented person and a fighter.
Being an American Idol judge requires a lot of sitting time. Physically, Bret needs to sit down for a while. Mentally, can Bret pull it off? He is a mover and shaker by nature. He loves going places and performing. He is a “hands on” type of guy. Bret might become bored sitting on a panel for hours on end listening to bad singers during the first few weeks. Michaels might find hell week tedious because once again, he will just be sitting on a panel away from the stage. Is listening to some nobody massacring Paula Abdul’s Rush be Bret’s cup of tea? Although, if anyone has expertise in the music business its Bret Michaels.
He has the potential to give good constructive criticism on American Idol contestants’ vocals and stage presence. Bret is familiar with the action behind the scenes in the music business, i.e. contracts, professional image, and financial savvy. With his experience, Bret Michaels can be a business manager to multiple musical artists. Michaels would make a great addition on American Idol.
Bret won’t be as rude and crass to American Idol contestants like Simon Cowell. Bret has the talent to be honest without sounding like a complete butt hole. Simon’s personality made him famous and most people loved him anyway. Of course, some people don’t like Simon and refuse to watch American Idol because of Simon’s in your face comments. This is a chance for American Idol to gain viewers who refused to watch the show because of their dislike of Simon Cowell. Lets face it, Bret Michaels is more of a suitable replacement than Ryan Seacrest. Yes, Seacrest knows the show inside and out, but his professional entertainment experience is center around hosting shows and reporting on the E Channel. Considering the alternative, Bret is the best man for the job.
