Bret Michaels condition is finally stable enough for fans to stop worrying. But Bret Michaels’ condition inspired a lot of panic and fear in fans, friends and family. Yet for all that had been written and speculated about the ordeal, the man at the center hadn’t been able to speak for himself. However, now that he has been released and is ready to start his recovery, Michaels was able to give a first hand account at last. After the recent Bret Michaels condition improvement, he shared his near-death experience in a People magazine cover.
Doctors confirmed on Tuesday that Michaels would make a full recovery, despite still suffering from severe pain. His physicians and his loved ones raved about his will to live, and how it came through during this crisis. But as a new People magazine cover story show, he may have been more lucky than brave.
For the first time, Bret Michaels’ condition is illuminated by Michaels himself, as he gave his first exclusive interview since the brain hemorrhage. He shared that on the day of the incident, he thought the hemorrhage sounded more like a shotgun, as it ‘literally popped.” He wasn’t shot, as he first feared, but he knew something was wrong when he couldn’t move his head.
Once he started slurring his words, he had girlfriend Kristi Gibson take him to the hospital. When the first Bret Michaels condition reports came in, there were rumors that he was found unconscious. But as it turns out, he was still awake when he got to the hospital, and barely able to talk.
The story backs up a recent account from one of his physicians, Dr. Joseph Zabramski, who claimed that Michaels didn’t want this family to see him unconscious. Michaels himself told People that he only wanted to see his family that day if he was going to die. But if he had a chance to recover, he didn’t want his children to see him this way until he got better.
Thanks to improvements in Bret Michaels’ condition, his children and family have gotten to see him. He now has a lot of physical therapy ahead, and will suffer intense pain for another week as the blood under his brain dissolves. His future plans for coming back on tour, or possibly coming back to Celebrity Apprentice, have not been officially released.
Yet the fact that Bret Michaels’ condition is okay enough for him to talk about it himself is another good sign. For that, he gives credit to “will and good faith” as this was not his time yet. But as the People cover states, he knows he is lucky to be alive, and that there’s still a lot to do – both in his life, and in his recovery.
The Bret Michaels cover story will officially hit newsstands tomorrow.
