Bret Michaels condition reports were great the last several days. However, the big Bret Michaels condition update was yesterday as doctors held a press conference on his status. After days of unofficially accounts, speculation, and conflicting reports, the official story would be fully unveiled. As it turned out, all the good stories about Michaels were right, and then some, as they announced he would recover. In fact, Bret Michaels’ condition isn’t even being monitored in the ICU anymore as he is heading back home.
Yesterday’s press conference disclosed that the rocker/Celebrity Apprentice star had been checked out of the hospital. He had been in the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix for almost two weeks, yet he was allowed to leave and be taken off 24-hour surveillance. After a harrowing week and a half, the worst may now be over.
The Bret Michaels condition updates looked as bad as possible when this ordeal began. But over the last several days, there have been countless reports on his will to live and the promise of a full recovery. Dr. Joseph Zabramski, who first raved about Michaels’ will to live days ago, even promised a 100% recovery in the press conference.
The worst looks to have passed, but there are still some difficulties to overcome. Zabramski said that although Michaels is talking and is mentally aware, he is not walking very well. Bret Michaels’ condition is still vulnerable to headaches and back pain, as ‘blood products’ from his brain hemorrhage are still hurting his spine and skull.
Although recovery looks likely, it might not come right away, especially with his type 1 diabetes. A sodium deficiency can lead to seizures, but Zabramski claimed he is not at risk for another brain hemorrhage. Intense physical therapy is still ahead, but Bret Michaels’ condition has improved enough for him to leave the hospital, at least.
For now, it appears that there is no need to worry about immediate danger, although Michaels’ long term prospects are still iffy. It may be too much to ask for him to go back on tour soon, in spite of rumors that he could return in late May. There still might be room for him to go on the Celebrity Apprentice finale, but that all depends on the next few weeks.
Bret Michaels condition reports are not dire anymore, and they may not be for a while. His will to live and the hopes of fans worked, as the press conference was the payoff to their dreams. However, that doesn’t mean hopes and dreams aren’t still needed to fuel the recovery ahead.
