Heist Society surpassed my expectations. This exciting new series from Ally Carter, author of the Gallagher Girls series, brings us into the world of thieves and con men. Katarina ‘Kat’ Bishop has done her best to escape the life of theft and be a normal teenager but it is not to be. Her friends frame her for a fantastic stunt and she end up out of an exclusive boarding school. However, it is a good thing that she is back because her father’s life is in danger and only a master thief can help save his life. Kat and her friends need to pull off an impossible heist. Can Kat keep her father, and everyone else she cares about, safe and get away with the heist while keeping true to her desire not to fall into the family business?
Heist Society is a fun read with charming characters that really draw you into the story. Kat is a strong willed, smart girl with sass. Hale and the rest of the teen thieves are all great characters as well. There were some great twists and turns that took me places I did not expect. It is faced paced and engaging. There is action, suspense, humor and a dash of romance thrown in. A recipe for a fantastic read that I just did not want to put down.
I recommend this book highly for teens and adults alike. There is no violence, sexual situations or bad language so it is appropriate for a wide range of ages. Readers that enjoyed Carter’s Gallagher Girls series will enjoy this new series as well; in fact, I think this series will surpass the previous one in quality and enjoyment. I greatly enjoyed the Gallagher Girls series so that is saying a lot. When I finished the book, I was sad it was over and eager to see what Kat and her crew will get into next.
