Book Review: Dangerous by Diana Palmer

by itchyfish

Dangerous is the latest novel by The New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Diana Palmer. Dangerous is also the latest book in the series that is called the Long, Tall Texans. In this newest book, the story tells about FBI agent Kilraven and Winnie Sinclair. Kilraven’s past is one of heartbreak and he is one man who has nothing to lose. Winnie Sinclair is a 911 operator who has a crush on Kilraven for years. Their story is one that will fascinate and intrigue as time goes on. This latest book continues the plot that has started in the previous novels that Diana Palmer has written.

Kilraven is after those who killed his family many years ago and evidence is slowly coming out about the murders and also the murders of many of whom came after. Kilraven feels that he may have a chance at some closure and get those who are responsible. He will do whatever it takes to bring the killers to justice since he has nothing to lose. He has taken jobs that take him all over, into dangerous places, and into dangerous situations. He wants desperately to get the ones that are responsible. He finally figures out that in order to find those who are responsible, he will have to compromise and also to get Winnie to trust him enough in order to get things down.

Winnie is skeptical about Kilraven’s plan but is willing to go along with it in order to see justice down. She is not about to become something that she is not, but she will go along with his plan. Winnie comes from a family that has seen a lot of heartache also so she knows, in her way, what Kilraven is going through. Then she makes a discovery about the past that is not all together true and just about turns her life upside down.

Her mother, Gail Rogers, who is also an Federal agent, comes back into her and her family’s life. For so long, they all thought one thing about her but what they though they knew, was far from the truth. Secrets come out and the truth is out at long last. And, another discovery is made, in the form of a brother that none of them knew that they had. Gail is also a piece of the puzzle as they all discover about the past and the future colliding.

Kilraven and Winnie make the decision to get married in order to get information and finally be able to get those who are responsible. Kilraven lets her know that this is a marriage in name only and why they are doing what they are doing. Winnie goes into the marriage, knowing all this, but still has hopes that their marriage will work, despite Kilraven’s claims to the contrary. As time goes by and they are able to find out more evidence about the crimes of the past and present, Kilraven breaks his promise to her and they end up falling in love.

The past and present finally come to a head and the culprits who killed his family and several other crimes finally are apprehended and Kilraven gets his closure. Dangerous finally puts the storyline that started in many books before to rest and gives closure, if not a full ending. We will discover more about this family in her next hardcover which will be about Kilraven’s brother, Jon Nighthawk. I am sure this next one will open more storyline plots and keep us going, wanting more. I think Diana Palmer has outdid herself again in this latest book.
