The Black Bear Jamboree in Pigeon Forge, TN is a high energy Musical Show and Dinner theater for kids and adults alike. Kids will enjoy the comical interaction with the Black Bears throughout the show. Adults will be entertained by a fast paced collection of musical hits ranging in genre from Country /Blue Grass to Gospel/Inspirational performed by a talented cast of singers, dancers and entertainers. All of this while eating a delicious 3 course meal that is well worth the cost of admission alone.
Our three year old enjoyed the show and his dinner immensely. It helped that a family who also had a three year old was seated at our large table. Our kids made fast friends and enjoyed the show together.
The actors and entertainers include the audience in many ways. From singers exiting the stage and joining the audience, to bringing all the kids on stage to sing a song… there is never a dull moment. If you end up being seated in the front row, you’re fair game for the spot light!
A note to the conservative: There are several low-cut/tight costumes and a small number off-color jokes,
After the show, I had the privilege to meet the show manager and interview 3 of the cast members . I met the 2 lead actors and one of the singers/dancers.
Jimmy Bryant played the part of a talented Hollywood director. Stacey Mitchell played “Dexter,” an aspiring star and Carrie Arpcobb sang and danced her way through the show.
Do you enjoy performing for families with young children?
“That’s a loaded question,” said Jimmy Bryant with a smile. “It depends on the age of the children. They usually have a quick connection with Dexter.”
Jimmy went on to explain that if children are able to connect right away, they enjoy the show and a good time is had by all…actors included.
Your last song was “I Can Only Imagine” which is a Christian song by Mercy Me. Are there a lot of believers in the cast?
Each of the actors stated that they were, in fact, believers. Stacey Mitchell, “Dexter,” actually sings this song himself and shared that he was able to fully connect with that song because of “loved ones that have passed.”
What’s your favorite children’s song from when you were growing up?
Jimmy: “You Are My Sunshine”
Carrie: “Baby Bumble Bee”
Stacey: “If I Had a Hammer”
It was fun to meet the cast and my family and I had a good time at the show.
