Bill O’Reilly says Jennifer Aniston’s remarks in favor of single motherhood are “destructive to our society,” as reported at Fox News. The conservative TV host says, “Fathers who do try hard are under-appreciated and diminished by people like Jennifer Aniston.”
Bill O’Reilly wants good dads to get respect
Jennifer Aniston, the 41-year-old star best known for her role as Rachel Green in Friends, will soon appear as a woman who gets pregnant by a sperm donor in the movie The Switch. While promoting the movie, Jennifer said, “Women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don’t have to settle with a man just to have that child.”
But the 60-year-old conservative talk show host, Bill O’Reilly, says Jennifer Aniston is wrong. During his show, in a talk with guests Fox News analyst Margaret Hoover and Fox & Friends co-anchor Gretchen Carlson, O’Reilly acknowledges that there are bad dads out there. “And any man who leaves their children is not a man.” However, according to Bill O’Reilly, Jennifer Aniston is unfair to the dads who aren’t deadbeats. “Aniston can hire a battery of people to help her, but she cannot hire a dad, OK? And Dads bring a psychology to children that is, in this society, I believe, under-emphasized. I think men get hosed all day long in the parental arena.”
Whether O’Reilly has a point or not, the amount of single parent households in the US is high. In 2007, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, 26.3 percent, or more than one-quarter, of children under the age of 21 live with only one parent. And according to Margaret Hoover, 80 percent of single families are run by mothers.
Is Jennifer Aniston in support of single motherhood mainly because she’s failed in the husband department?
If we assume that Jennifer Aniston believes what she says and that she’s not just trying to promote her new movie The Switch, what is the true reason behind her words? Would Jennifer Aniston have said the same thing when she was married to Brad Pitt, or has she always felt that all women need from men, when it comes to having babies, is their sperm?
